Default About buying latest Blu-rays from Mumbai, India

I would like to say a big THANKS to you all. It is after reading for weeks in this forum about the right info I went ahead and bought a Sony Bravia 46inches X Series HD LCD and then a Sony BDP S550 followed by a Denon 1909 amp recently. There must not be more than 30 Blu-ray player owners in Mumbai, though PS3 owners must be around 1000 plus. The BDP S550 is not even available in here...so got it from Singapore.

Here the only titles available are a few Sony ones that are on a buy one get one free. The price for one Sony movie here is Rs.1800 thats around $ 36. So I am getting one Sony movie for $ 18. The new movies don't get released here. The limited Warner titles that are available here are the Harry Potter series, The Dark Knight, I am Legend and Speed Racer and noting beyond that. These are priced at Rs. 1300 thats $ 26 per piece.

My request is I want to buy most of the upcoming movies but how easier or difficult is it to buy from Amazon from Mumbai, India. I have a credit card. The prices on Amazon and the deals offered are far cheaper than what I get in here. How much charges would I incur? Will they be per piece or for the entire set of movies (say 7-8) at a time?

Is here any one from Mumbai?

I asked the BIG Home Entertainment officials who are having rights for Jodha Akbar in India abt their Blu-ray launch. They told me the Jodhaa Akbar blu-ray will be launched in India in around May-June 2009.

hey im from Bombay.. wassup.. i'm with you on the lack of blu-ray penetration in India.. I order most movies and PS3 games online since it hurts to pay Rs2000+ for BDs when you can get them for less than $15..

where do you get yours from??

I live in Canada and I occasionally buy blu-rays from Amazon.uk, Amazon.de (Germany) and Yesasia (Japan). The extra costs I may incur include the conversion of the canadian dollar to either the yen, pound or euro performed by my credit card company. Also, the duties or import taxes I may be charged when I pick up my parcel at the local Canada poste outlet. In addition, international shipping is usually much more expensive. Hope this helps...

For some reason, when I do pick up a parcel at the poste office I'm rarely charged duty/import taxes. Not that I'm complaining.
