that's 10,000 yen for the BD? i make that £75. i know all about how pricing in japan differs. and that the exchange rate is terrible. but it's too much risk for an unknown reward. I've seen the film, find the idea of crowdfunding on this interesting, but there's too many grey area / poor things that people buy into on japanese discs. perhaps someone stateside will put these out again?

Two films in collector's packaging for 10000 yen isn't too bad. Trailers look interesting. I might pick this up.

I saw this thread a couple of days ago and it reminded me that I'd never seen either one. I checked the first one out on YouTube and "Man! What a wild ride!" It did remind me of when I first saw Evil Dead back when it was out on VHS and what an unrelenting film it was once things got going. Is the second Evil Dead Trap as crazy as the first?

The first one is OK. Bit pretentious and ultimately dull, though it has its moments. The second film bored me to death from what I remember.

Big fan of the first film and would love to see it in HD, but this is a little too expensive. Still hope it will happen so I can purchase it later.

I feel the same. I would love to have the 1st one in HD, but there are far too many unknowns here. I believe Synapse released a DVD of the original some time ago, it would be nice if they'd drop a bluray given they're current offerings.

These have entries on the site now, and are available from Amazon JP.

I only have a DVD of the first film from Synapse. I wanted to like it because it has some cool moments and has that exotic foreign horror film feeling to it. But like Someone Weird alluded to, it tries to get philosophical at times but it's out of place and comes off incoherent. Also it just wasn't engaging most of the time. I think it never had an anamorphic release on DVD though, so I'm sure the BD is a nice upgrade.

Both of these are cool and I've been hoping for a U.S. release of them and asked Mondo Macabro if they could release them, which they were open about but it might be awhile. Still, $80 for these two Japan releases is too much, especially when there's no guarantee these will have English subs. So, for me, the wait continues...

Are Unearthed Films not releasing these on blu-ray next year or did I dream reading that?

Jared from Mondo Macabro said they would consider releasing them somewhere down the road so they would be the ideal choice but I'd get any release, really. These are really underrated and hidden gems. I'll hold off on the Japan releases for the time being but might end up springing for them if we don't hear anything else in the next year.
