1. 4K Ultra HD
2. Blu-ray
3. Digital

So to get the product #3 promised on the cover, I must submit to receiving email from Lionsgate (yes, I understand that you can probably opt out later), and I must download and install an application (which presents a security risk and may be prohibited on the computer I use, if I even have a computer at my disposal) to actually receive product #3.

That is all, as we Americans like to say, quite BUNK.

True about the computer, I'm not even sure I could download it to my laptop. I think the expectation is that EVERY person has a phone, and also has the (expensive) service necessary to perform the redeem. So if you only have a flip-phone and an older desktop, then. . . oh well too bad? (sez Lionsgate)

Okay, must not be well-known, but to bypass the email thing on redeemmovie.com:
Where it says I WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS ABOUT LIONSGATE AND ITS AFFILIATES' PROPERTIES, there is a box that is automatically checked.

If that box is checked, you cannot proceed without entering an email address. If you uncheck that box, you can proceed WITHOUT entering an email address.

The expectation of having to use a non-flip-phone is not one of Lionsgate. It's the method of getting the code to sell, which is something they don't want you to do (probably).

Part of the movie was filmed 9 blocks from where I live. When John went to the "ballet theater" is actually the United Palace on 175 st & Broadway (you can actually see the street sign on the corner when John arrives).

I did get a reply from Movie Redeem Customer Service. Here's an excerpt:

"Please povide
- Your first and last name
- Phone Number
- Location and date of purchase
- Copy of the receipt/Order Screenshot (If available)
- Image of barcode (Back of case should be included and UPC legible - please do not crop this image)
- A screenshot of the error (VUDU/iTunes. redemption website, etc)
- Image of the Digital Copy insert

If you plan to send more than one photo, please send them one at a time (one picture per email)"

I think it would be easier to just install the app. Maybe do it on a VM to protect yourself from any obtrusive naughtiness the app might have.

This is a terrible, horrible user experience.

Well, I also downloaded the app, scanned the code, didn’t input my email but still hit redeem and it brought me to the redemption options. So... no need to give email or sign up for anything to get it to work.

Same thing here. I’m tempted to get an exchange through Best Buy but what if it just happens again? I have the Steelbook.

Edit: I’m going to stick with it and hope movie redeem makes it right.

Now the code is working on the movieredeem.com site, but only with Vudu or FandangoNOW, and doesn't work when I try to redeem the code directly in iTunes. I only want this code for iTunes, so I'm going to be super pissed if that isn't possible.

I bought the 4K, but in an unusual circumstance am out of the country for work right now and asked my assistant to open the case and send me the code so I could redeem while traveling. Of course this happens the week Lionsgate throws this dumb curveball, and I won't be able to try the app/hologram thing until next Monday.

Isn't a QR code nothing but a URL?
So using a normal QR code app, cant the URL be found out easily?
Typing the URL in an incognito browser session, even if it causes to go to a different URL, wont the browser history show all the URLs accessed? Which hopefully will show the real redemption code, which can be used in VUDU or whatever?

Just the game code. The vertical "UHD + BD" text in the top left corner of the front also lacks the digital copy text that's on the US release, so I'm guessing Lionsgate simply doesn't have the digital infrastructure in place to offer digital codes in Canada. I suppose they could've partnered with Cineplex or someone, but it may not be worth the return on investment for them.

I'm honestly not even sure how digital movie redemptions in Canada even work, or what services are still in business. It's been so long since I redeemed a code that the last one I redeemed was still in SD, and it was on iTunes (Apple having being banished in all forms from my digital ecosystem long ago).

Also, if you have an HD code, VUDU is currently upgrading HD redemptions to UHD for free. Don’t know how long it will last but it worked for me just now.

Anyone know if this is still going on with the codes from the blu?? May try buying a regular HD code for VUDU and use my digital code for Itunes, I do both because when I travel to see family they only have vudu on their tv. Always wanna have some John wick at the ready.

Yeah it seems all are Google Play or iTunes now after UV died for Canadian choices. Almost everything gets the 4K upgrade too which is nice for both companies minus I think Disney titles. Been using Google Play more than anything because of the built in app on my Sony 4K tv

Actually, a QR code can store pretty much anything (text, binary, etc), it's just limited to around 300 bytes for most QR codes.

Not sure what the JW3 one actually stores. You need a picture of it and a view of the hologram in motion to validate though, which us why you cant just send a picture.

This is great news. I hope all of those who want an iTune code don't get one. The more issues that people have watching this, or any movie, digitally, the better.
