REALLY Giant Robots are Coming!
Source: ComingSoon.net, Superhero Hype! August 17, 2007 Director Michael Bay's Transformers has already reached $633.9 million worldwide in tickets sales (on a budget of $150 million), but we're thinking fans will want to head back to theaters when his "Giant F**king Robots" will live up to that title even more. ComingSoon.net/SuperheroHype.com has learned that Paramount Pictures will rerelease the summer blockbuster in IMAX theaters on September 21 with more footage than you saw in the conventional theatrical version. What? We don't know, but we can't wait to hear Optimus Prime's voice in IMAX's digital speaker system, or see the robots battling it out on the giant screen! |

Yea I had been questioning why they didn't originally release it on IMAX. A look at the 300 IMAX numbers should have shown them what they could be in store for.

2- Harry Potter has been booked into the same slot it would have opened in for 2 years. I'm still royally cheesed that they put this in DLP instead of Ratatouille |

Since I never got around to seeing it in theaters I'm going to go to the IMAX showing. Hell I can't wait to see it on a nice bigger screen. Maybe if it pans out there would it be too much to ask for an IMAX version on Blu? Or would that be possible?

The old red and blue eye glass 3D was cool, but you get a headache by the end of the movie. Not to mention the colored lenses didn't exactly give you color purity in the picture.
The lenticular type lens were uncolored, but again, the headache thing. Something about 3D that just makes a movie cheap and cheezy. It doesn't need a great script anymore. It doesn't need REAL eye popping special effects because the 3D effect compensates.... right? ![]() Simulated 3D as we see in CGI movies is good enough for now. In case you haven't noticed, people aren't exactly kicking and screaming for real 3D. |

Unless you mean the "director's cut", I'm sure that'll be on the Blu and the DVD anyway |

But doesn't that mean that Transformers in IMAX will be "letterboxed" to fit a 2.39:1 on IMAX's 1.43:1 like what was done in Superman Returns?

The only movies that weren't was Apollo 13 (Ron Howard supervised open matte) and Episode 2 that was opened up to 16:9 (Per Lucas) |

I'll probably see Transformers for a third time with this rerelease. The biggest advantage will be the sound upgrade.
