I see this is coming out in a couple of weeks.
Amazon are listing two versions, one at £20 and one at £30 as a 'collector's edition' but I can't tell from the product description what the differences are. Both appear to have 3 different cuts of the film (Theatrical, redux, final cut). Does anyone here know the difference? I dislike tat and wider boxes, *but* would plump for the more expensive one if their description is wrong and you only get the three versions with the collector's edition. Thanks. It's an odd one, the listings say the standard edition has all three cuts but hmv says it's 3 discs. Unless they've re-done the UHD to branch all three versions on one disc, I don't see how that can be as it contains the extras disc and a blu ray. So still confused. I've ordered the limited one which is on the way, but if the standard has the theatrical cut and is in a proper case (not crappy cardboard) I'll be annoyed as that's all I want.

So... I was in my local Sainsbury's earlier this evening, and they have it on the shelf. It's labelled as the Final cut and is a 4-disc set.
Disc 1 is final cut Disc 2 is redux and Theatrical Disc 3 is extras Disc 4 is Hearts of Darkness documentary. And it looks to be in a nice, normal case without loads of tat. Winner! |

So it's basically the 6-discs version minus the 2 BDs with the 3 cuts ?

It's pretty obvious what's happening. Collector's Edition is sold out and being sold for big profits by third-party sellers. Regular edition is widely available.

thanks Geoff. DVDbeaver reported different video bitrate between FC UHD Disc and TC/RC UHD disc, about 50mbps the first vs 40mbps the latter. are there significant differences in terms of video quality between the two discs (e.g. macroblocking or whatever)?

I looked at it in HMV today. UHD disc says it's Final Cut, then a BD of the film and a third disc with Hearts of Darkness + extras. So glad I got the 6 disc edition, I would have hated not to have the theatrical on UHD.
