Plot

Before the events of BlazBlue, humanity was on the verge of extinction from the "Black Beast", a creature of Darkness. Hope came in the form of six heroes who wielded the power of magic. Together, the six heroes & humanity created "Armagus" a combination of Magic & Technology to defeat the Beast, which would be known as The First War of Magic.

After the war, the Novus Orbis Librarium Armagus (the Library for short) (the New World Void Space Cue Administration Bureau in Japan) was created to govern the new world which has discovered the use of Armagus. Under the Library, Humanity began reconstructing & the world was under their dictatorship. However this caused much dissent for the people due to fact Armagus was used in every issue & the widening socioeconomic gap between those who could use & cannot use Armagus. This dissent would eventually form years later into The Ikaruga Civil War or The Second War of Magic, when the Ikaruga Union openly rebelled against the Library. After the war, the Library imposed a harsher rule on the world declaring anyone that defies them will be killed.

On December A.D. 2199, several years after the Second War, a branch of the Library was utterly destroyed by an SS-class traitor named "Ragna the Bloodedge" also known as "The God of Death." His quest was to destroy the Library. The Novus Orbis Librarium Armagus, hoping to stop him, immediately put the largest bounty ever for anyone who could capture him. Interestingly, Ragna possessed a powerful form of Armagus known as the "Azure Grimoire" (Grimoire of the Blue in Japan), also known as the BlazBlue. This led to the Librarium, as well as the Ikaruga Union and other fighters, to be after not just his bounty, but also his grimoire as well.

some more info

Quote:
Japanese game developer Arc System Works announced in this week's issue of Famitsu magazine that BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, the 2D fighter released worldwide in arcades last November, is getting the requisite console port. Versions for the PS3 and Xbox 360 are in the works, and both are due to hit Japan stores sometime this summer.

BlazBlue, from the makers of the Guilty Gear, is getting a wide range of updates for its home port, most involving the new single-player story mode. "Simply playing through it will require more than 30 hours," general director Toshimichi Mori told Famitsu. "I think a lot of casual users enjoy the story modes [in fighting games], so we made an effort to allow people who want to enjoy the story and the characters to play through to the end."

The story mode, which will involve all 12 playable characters, will feature a variety of branching story choices, most picked directly by the player adventure-game style. Depending on how things go, your character may start at a disadvantage in some battles, either with reduced energy or without one or more of his signature moves. (Some branches will occur based off whether you win or lose a match, but these are the exception, according to Mori.)

Other updates to the home BlazBlue include full online competition on both platforms, game-ending Astral Heat moves available to all characters, and unspecified downloadable content to be available in the future. Anime studio GONZO is handling the game's animated sequences.

Never cared for Guilty Gear as much as I did the SF Alpha series. I adored the graphics, but the gameplay seemed too hectic. All the fighting games with Marvel characters were too frantic as well. Also, there are only 12 characters? Really?

Arc should bring Guilty Gear to PS3 while they're at it.

It's like the Mona Lisa of video game art book covers, except instead of Mona Lisa, its has this girl, and a dress, and a robot thing standing behind her. There's no way we're going to let them send any of these to stores; so you better order it online. Available for online customers only, while supplies last.

i'm gonna swing by a gamestop and just ask for a book... i'd love to see the art in there.

fighting games are not the kind i buy blindly, so i'd love try a demo or something before i even consider buying it.

drat!

i'm not too certain i'll have this game on launch, let alone pre-order, i'll have to find this art book on ebay i guess.

it's by the same publisher that publishes most of yoshiyuki sadamoto's art books. i confide fully in their prints.

I think I'll pass on the artbook since I'd probably just ebay it anyway. And with S/H cost and tax I'd probably break even. I'll just go to the gamestop that is 5 minutes from my work and pick up the game.

That would be great but however for right now I want Arc to bring Battle Fantasia on PS3 for Americans since it's available on PS3 in Europe and Japan but yet American buyers have not received it yet.
