I picked it up last week along with Gears 5 & GreedFall. Once I finish the Gears 5 campaign I’ll be starting Control. I’ve liked the other Remedy games I’ve player & have heard good things about this one so I’m looking forward to it.

i watched a little game play on you tube and it's a weird one, it's a bit like Quantum Break if you liked that but it's not the same game, that's how the game was described i mean the lead has powers a bit like he does in Quantum Break. the story isn't the same though and i have no idea if time travel is involved i have installed but i haven't played much it except like maybe 2 or 3 minutes of it thus far

This thread was in the PlayStation section. I still haven't put anywhere near as much time into it as I'd like. May not end up playing through it until after Halloween.

i was just playing this and i'm stuck on it for the moment at the start of the game under that strange pryimid sorry for my bad spelling. than i got tired of playing it and i quit and put some gears 1 on that's got to update apparently. another way to describe this game is if you are a David lynch fan it's like he wrote it

Played about 10-15 mins so far but it’s starting off good. The way the map looks I’m think this will be similar to a metroidvania style game (which I really enjoy). Looking forward to putting more time into it & using the powers.

So I put in more time into Control today. Definitely a metroidvania style game. New powers/abilities unlock other parts of the building to explore, you have to backtrack to them obviously. Have 1 power so far (telekinesis) & have fought 1 boss (beat it after 4 tries lol). Combat is much more fast passed, can’t duck behind cover but you can sometimes hide behind certain things. It encourages more always on the move type fighting. New gun types are constructed at the fast travel points if you have the required materials. You also upgrade yourself at these points as well.

It’s got some creepy horror atmosphere in some sections & no heath regeneration (heath is dropped by defeating enemies & can also be fully resorted at fast travel points. Story is a mystery/thriller/supernatural type combination. It’s certainly an interesting game & I do like it so far but I also recognize it may not be for everyone. Definitely look at some videos if you are on the fence before blind buying. Overall though I enjoyed Alan Wake & Quantum Break better then Control so far.

i would not be surprised at all if everyone on here said you know i loved Control but Alan Wake is better, my guess everyone who sees this thread on this site on both my thread and on the PS4 thread and other sites will prolly say that Alan Wake is the best of them all.

but you are right this isn't a game for everyone but than neither is Alan Wake or hell even Quantum Break as that's a game that lot of people hate for some reason and so far most seem to find better things with this one and others find the other one was better go figure ya know?

Its weird but the more I play this the less I like it. I have all the powers, 4 different gun constructs, have collected well over 100 of the collectables, finished a few side missions & 6 story missions. I like metroidvania games but this one starts to get very repetitive/tedious after a while, like its overstayed it welcome. Story is paper thin unless you actively look for & read/watch the collectables. The environments all look extremely similar & im a bit tired of looking at it by this point. Not sure if ill have the strength (or will) to keep playing until the finish.

Also the save/checkpoint system is so bad. Nothing worse then dying & having to run back all the way to where you were with respawning enemies along the way for good measure.

I played on PS4. But darkness2918, I pretty much agree with everything you said. This was really underwhleming to me. And I had all the same issues you had. I have a bigger post about it on the PS4 thread.

Alan Wake and Quantum Break are much better games. QB is one of my favorite games, mainly for the story. Control isn't bad, but it's got nothing on Remedy's previous games.

I loved Control and it absolutely takes place in the same universe as Alan Wake, which is cool

i want to like this game but i'm hating it tbh. The difficulty spikes during boss battles, no regenerating health or checkpoints are making it really easy for me to hate this game.

after trying the mold boss nearly ten times, having to walk my way back to it, every time while enemies re spawn, getting half your health dropped after getting hit once and not getting any health drops made me rage quit the boss and move on with my current mission.

i am on mission eight of ten. during mission seven, i died during the battle after the spot you get the self reflection side mission. shortly after re spawning at the security control point and was immediately attacked by enemies that were not present during my first trip through the area.

The enemy spawns are sometimes random yeah.

For the mold boss, (on the PS4 at least) there's a gltich where if you don't move at all after descending and only shoot at it, it never shoots at you. Might be worth a try!

I wasn't over the moon about it either. I thought it was OK and the combat was fun sometimes, but I would liked a storyline with more weight, more heft. It kind of just did nothing for me.

Ashtray maze was definitely a highlight though!
