Question PS3, 1080i via component

So It says on the PS3 site that it plays 480p, 480i, 720p, 1080i and 1080p. I am picking mine up next week and plan on hooking it up to my mits at 480p, 480i and 1080i via component. Someone on the AVS forum said it wont play 1080i via component. Is that right?

They are wrong, I play my PS3 at 1080p over component when I have it hooked upto my samsung because their component can take 1080p. Whoever said that at AVS is wrong.

I watch my bluray's in 1080i...excellent picture!

games can play in 1080p via component, but for 1080p bluray movies you need HDMI.

Cool I used my old component cables with my tv and PS3

for about 3 months before I upgraded to HDMI when I got a reciever that had HDMI passthrough capablity. Its worth the money to upgrade but you'll still get a great picture with component cables.
