Everything thats out tomorrow will be in the low teens or less next weekend, so i think Abominable will easily be #1.

Wonder Park did about $15M opening weekend domestic. I expect Abominable to fall around the same range because the marketing wasn’t out there enough. Having Dolby screens certainly helps. However, I think more families are going to flock out to The Addams Family a few weeks later, pushing that animated film well over $20 million.
Still could leave the door open for anyone to take the top spot. Let’s see if Hustlers continues to get great WOM. |

I think Abominable will surprise. Families haven't had anything to bite into and yes, we have the Addams on the horizon but I could see some opting for this rather than the potential spooky vibe of the Addams.
Either way, I'm seeing it in 3D. The trailer for Abominable looked simply magical to me. |

Abominable looks fun, don’t get me wrong. Especially more than Wonder Park and UglyDolls. It’s the one I’m running out to that weekend with my Regal or AMC pass. And I like Chloe Bennet as the lead voice. I just don’t know if they ran enough TV ads for it to be important enough. They definitely played the trailer enough in theaters, but will the end of September release date hurt it?
Addams Family, I’m not worried about, because the first two Hotel Transylvania movies killed it in September with $40M+ openings (all three did, but the last film came out in summer). Both movies share a similar Halloween theme and mini dark tone. |

Abominable has the Dreamworks push that I think will give it a boost. I think it'll preform similarly to Captain Underpants (which was also lower-budget but very well-received), which opened to $23 million when that came out.
The one big disadvantage to Abominable though is there's been two other animated movies in the past year with a similar premise (Smallfoot and Missing Link) |

I contributed to this week's bountiful box office for The Goldfinch (via a free coca-cola ticket at AMC.) I think my ticket doubled its per-screen-average for the day.
There were 7 people in the theater (9 people to start). Only one showing at the ol' 30 plex AMC. |
