I throw them away if they are shipped to me. If I see them on discs at the store, I'll generally take a key to each slipcover and scuff it up a bit. If I'm at a friend's house and they have pristine slipcovers, I clog their toilet.

Yeah. Never really thought about it before, but buying so many releases day 1 or while they're still relatively new on UHD got me paying more attention to them. When I don't get one, it is a mild bummer. I just got MVD and Arrow's Killer Tomatoes releases since they were finally at an ok price for me, but they're way past slip date and both were resealed. Oh well, but kinda bugs me.

Yes, unless it's an older one and it's completely trashed from age/shipping. I'm not obsessed with them, but I do like to have them for certain things... if I want a slipcover I'll buy it day one, if I don't care about it for that release, I will usually wait.

My slipcoverage on my 4K collection is at 100%. At this point I probably won’t buy a release if it doesn’t include the slip ‘cause it would drive me crazy. (This only pertains to releases that originally included a slip. If it never came with a slip then obviously this doesn’t apply.)

If it comes with them I keep it, if it doesn't then it doesn't. But then picking up Nolan on 4K happened. I could never find the right price for the Prestige before it disappeared...so I imported it for a sweet price accepting the UK rating certificate. But it came damaged, and I didn't like that, so i reached out and was able to secure a pretty one.
Guess what? They just sit on my shelf though. There really isn't much else for them to do...though I imagine it's like a Toy Story situation with them coming to life when we are not home and I can just picture the pristine slipcovers taking charge and being kinda mean to the scuffed up slips, while somewhat accepting of those without...I mean you can't bash a case if it never came with one to begin with. But then what about those big sets on top of the shelves? Are they their gods? I just don't know man...none of us do... In conclusion, I never get rid of a slip...it's a part of the package after all. Heck...I never even dispose of the inserts unless I sell a digital code. |

4K slips in the US have generally been quite nice and a step up in quality from the equivalent standard blu versions. I enjoy the slick, glossy finish on the slips that studios like Warner, Universal and Lionsgate have been providing.
Honestly, they help give physical media a perceivable touch of class in an increasingly digital age. |
