Smile Blu ray players that can turn channels

I am looking to upgrade from my dvd to a blu-ray. The dvd player I have now I use as a cable reciever box and switch channels through it since I have a projector. I was wondering if there was a player that would do the same thing or do I have to go to a dish so I can have a box to turn the channels on? sd2009

you run your DVD player through a cable-box??? I'm a little confused.... I'd think you would just want to run your cable-box AND Blu-ray player to the projector.... just run the Cable-box via Component, and the Blu-ray via HDMI

I think the OP is asking if there is a blu-ray player that has a built in tv tuner. And honestly, I dunno.

Almost every VCR had a built in tuner, some DVD players... but I dunno about Blu-ray players. I don't think so.

A BD recorder might have a tuner, but not a player.

Well... what's stopping you from keeping the DVD player as a TV Tuner and using the Blu-ray player for movies?

Is your DVD player a DVD recorder? As fas as I know they don't have a standalone Blu-ray recorder, maybe in a couple of years. Or maybe you can post under the media and software links and someone like Dadkins can get you running a HTPC to do what you want.

Default blu-ray player

yes it is a dvd recorder and I just might have to keep it for the tuner part, I was hoping that there was a blu-ray that would do it.

If you have money burning a hole in your pocket you might want to buy the Philips HDD DVR at Wal-Mart for about $250. It has a full digital tuner and can record to hard disk or to DVD in a HD format. I use OTA transmission and feel the reception is better than my TV tuner. Then in a couple of years once they work out the kinks of a standalone Blu-ray recorder you will be able to get what you want. However the Home Theater PC was probably made for you if you have that kind of money.
