Default Alfie (1966)

I can't believe this still isn't available on blu ray. It takes an actor of Michael Caine's skill to make a fundamentally repulsive character engaging and even sympathetic. The brief scene that follows Lily saying "Don't go in there" is one of his best, a fine display of horror and grief without a word being spoken. There is an HD version on Starz but it deserves a lavish blu ray with features on the locations and the soundtrack

Paramount should release a Michael Caine BD collection at least in the UK (it'd be region free anyway) comprising:

A properly remastered Zulu that buries the old Paramount and Twilight Time discs.
A properly remastered Italian Job
Alfie and Funeral in Berlin.

Such collection does exist in region 2 dvd.

Confident some boutique label will now release it in the US before the end of 21. The question is whether the transfer will warrant upgrading.
