This could be really great if they are just using the idea of a Zorro like character as an influence, kind of like what Xena with Hercules although that show was shite.

They should set it during the Mexican Revolution 1910-1920 so here you still have a heavy Western theme and a contrast to Zorro who was around during the Spanish period of California and a hero to the Pueblo indigenous people.

They could also use real-life Soldaderas as influences, one who comes to mind is Marķa Quinteras de Meras who was a colonel in Pancho Villa's army.

They could pay an awesome homage to these women if they bother to do it right. If they just do a straight gender swap then they really are missing a great opportunity.

Zorro is Zorro.
