Looking at my collection of VHS, DVD and Blu-ray I got to thinking about how many newer movies I do not own. In fact I have not bought any movies that were made post 2010 outside of Blade Runner 2049. That is not to say I have not seen newer films but there hasn't been anything that has gotten me excited enough to go out and make a purchase. Do you buy newer movies? Do you find yourself gravitating more towards older movies? Or perhaps it's a steady stream of everything?
Edit: I assume I'll be one of the only members who doesn't like new movies, lol. Last edited by playsignal1976; 11-22-2019 at 02:50 AM. |

Almost all of the new movies I buy are in 3D. Although I have some, mostly older, I don't tend to buy non-3d unless it fits a particular collection like Marvel, for example. I see almost every new movie at the theatre, provided it plays at my theatre.

I buy both new and old, but I suspect most of them qualify as old (as in, not recent).
I have zero problems with contemporary cinema, though. I do not empathize with those who struggle to find anything interesting nowadays. |

Maybe you can start these threads next:
Do you watch movies in the living room or your bed room? Do you watch movies on your phone? Do you prefer the word movies or films? |

Some new, but I'm mostly interested in the old films I can buy, films I saw & loved in my teens & before (on TV & at the cinema). so 40s, 50s & 60s.

According to my statistics, my collection is heavily dominated by older films. 1960s - 1990s make up almost 80% of my Blu-rays.

The 60s is more likely my favorite decade. But I own mostly films from 2000 and on. But that's because I almost never make it to the theater, so buying the Blu-ray is one of the ways that I primarly see new movies; along with HBO, Netflix, etc. Unfortunately, that also means that I'm sort of running out room, too. ![]() |

Hence the reason for going to the theaters.
![]() ![]() I'm certainly very choosy on the music I buy and listen to. If I'm going to spend/waste time listening to something, it better be good. Better than good. It needs to be transformative. We only have so much time here and there is no sense in wasting it. So the same should go for movies too. To some extent anyway. As for buying habits, It's always a mix of both old and new. But the new better be something really fu--ing out of this world. At the very least a 4 star movie. In my mind anyway. |
