I have this on DVD and love it. I also really liked 30 Days and found it quite scary. Near Dark is a classic as far as I am concerned but then I'm a huge Bill Paxton fan.
Back to Dog Soldiers - I fired into my PS3 a couple of days ago just as a random movie to test the new centre speaker I had just bought and having not watched it for a couple of years was surprised at how poor the picture was. Hopefully the transfer to Blu Ray improves it a good bit.

I remember having a good chuckle the first time I saw it at the bit where they reference The Matrix.

Dog Soldiers was a good film. I liked it a lot but it needs a good transfer. The SDVD was very soft looking and lacking the fine detail many SDVDs had at the time. It's worth releasing on Blu' if they go back and fix the PQ. If they simply take the source without repair and throw it on Blu' I'd bet many will be disapointed with the result like they have been on many WB titles for example. They have to correct the source - if the can.

I will say, just as a side note, that the difference between the Austin Powers SDVD and Blu-Ray is astounding. AP never received any re-vamping of the original transfer but it's very impressive on Blu' even when compared to an up-converted copy of the film.

I'm surprise that the Sci-fi channel doesn't but play the hell out of this movie.

On another note- How cool would it be if someone made a Left4Dead mod of this movie? Trapped in a farmhouse with a bunch of werewolves trying to break in.

I just realized something. The website cited by the OP isn't exactly the most reliable. Several months ago, I posted a rather facetious response to a newbie thread asking when Fight Club would be released. I made up some bogus date in response. A day or two later (12/17) I received an email from this person stating:

Quote:
I keep reading your posts at blu-ray.com and notice that you pick up
on release dates, and remember them, extremely well.

Are there any you know about that I've missed here?

http://www.releaselists.com/BLURAYNorthAmerica.html

Huge thanks if you have any additions/corrections.

Carl Braga
I don't know how the guy got me e-mail address, but I found that to be pretty interesting. He didn't mention Fight Club to me, but that was the ONLY post I could think of which wold have prompted the e-mail from him.

No disrespect to Mr. Braga's site, but I went the long way around the barn to say that I won't be convinced of a release date for Dog Soldiers (which I want sooo badly on Blu) until one of the other more credible release date sites says so.

Saw it on Sci-Fi channel years back, then I rented it from Netlfix and saw it again. For a low budget movie, the werewolves look realistics and and the actors were well portrayed! Action sequences was also intense. One of the best werewolf movie IMO

Agree...I have it on DVD so there's no way I am paying full price, but I will get it down the road.

I love the cover. Better than the first U.S. release cover.

Hopefully it retains all of the extras from the first version. Since the re-release dropped some.

It's $13.50 on amazon right now. Get it while you can for that price if you want it in May.

Default Dog Soldiers discussion

Dog Soldiers comes to Blu in about 7 weeks, and I for one am very eager. I thought this movie was a lot of good scary fun. I really enjoy the blending of military/government/conspiracy theory/genetic experiment/monster thing. Plus they Warewolves were so intimidating. Any one else like this movie as much as I did? If you hate, thats cool, tell us why. I cant wait.
