Default Mandalorian 4K Freezing on LG WebOS 3.5 TV. Do I need a dedicated streamer?

I couldn't get through an episode of the Mandalorian due to audio sync and freezing issues. Does that sound like a memory issue on the TV? Would a Roku or Fire Cube fix it?

I some times need to restart my bedroom tv every few weeks when I have a similar issue on Netflix. Try restarting the set and try again. Good Luck

You're better off getting a dedicated streaming device. The tv version of apps are wonky.

A dedicated streaming player like a Fire Stick 4K or Apple TV 4K will always give the Smart TV the run for the money. Smart TVs (especially Vizio) have always been more sluggish with apps compared to a dedicated streamer. Even streaming apps from your PS4 or Xbox One is better than streaming from your TV.

If you can get an ATV4K, there is nothing like it IMO .... Only thing you will need the TV apps for is to watch Google Movies and Youtube in 4K (if that is the case Chromecast Ultra is an option as well)

Just picked one up yesterday and its pretty solid. Took awhile to get all the settings right within my Home Theater System (hook up etc) trying to maximize Dolby Vision as my receiver is only 3-4 years old and doesn't pass thru Dolby Vision, passes thru HDR bot not Dolby Vision. Luckily my Oppo-203 has a HDMI-IN feature and that way I can get Dolby Vision sent up to my Panasonic OLED GZ1000. Excellent picture quality streaming wifi.

Back to the question asked, I did experience severe buffering with Mandalorian at first but then when I got my settings all setup and had ATV4K set to Dolby Vision it played episode 1 last night without issues and without a Ethernet hookup. as I thought that was the issue and was concerned. Didn't want to have to do a hard wire hookup.

In settings -> Video and Audio -> Match Content, ensure that you have "Match Dynamic Range" and "Match Frame Rate" On

Thanks
Ya I got that set, everything looks great. one bummer is I am not getting Dolby Atmos, pretty much need a receiver upgrade already which sucks. Receiver can do Dolby Atmos but if I plug the ATV4K directly to the receiver I will get Dolby Atmos on selected Disney+ or AppleTV+ titles but will suffer from no Dolby Vision on my new Panasonic OLED GZ1000. So I am sending it into my HDMI-IN on my Oppo-203 UHD Disc Player and then sending the Video signal up to the OLED and the Audio single down to the Pioneer Elite Sc-95 (which can do Atmos) but for some reason the AppleTV4K sends my audio to the Oppo and down to the Pioneer and sends it either PCM or 5.1. oh well.
