I have always liked this film and would gladly buy it on Blu. If only for David Caruso being his own signature brand of awesome!

Wanting this on blu pretty badly. Crowe kicks ass and is also serves as a solid drama. Good performances by all involved. Looks good on dvd... Would look a lot better in blu!

Apple TV version is cropped, anyone know where I can watch an HD version that's 2.35:1?

Still holding out for this movie. I originally inaugurated it into my top 100 movies if only for the extraction scene alone. But I find the story compelling enough and the interactions between characters solid for what was only ever supposed to be a B-grade movie anyway. It gets a lot of unfair hate from people - namely for Ryan's performance and the trite relationship between her and her husband's saviour (Crowe). Honestly, it doesn't matter. This is a great movie that has a lot of potential depth to improve upon in a BD release. Some of those jungle shots would look amazing!

Hopefully Warner Archive adds this one to their release schedule soon. First LONE STAR, but then I'll take this one.

Definitely interested in seeing POF on Blu. I saw the old DVD years ago (now long OOP) & felt it was a great film, but have only seen it once. Excellent suspenseful movie, with a great cast.

I got a DM yesterday from Warner Archive saying they have no news to give about either a PROOF OF LIFE or LONE STAR release in the foreseeable future.

Default “Things don't happen for a reason. They just happen.” Meg Ryan - Alice Bowman

I purchased the iTunes download of this last night and yes, the iTunes version is in 1.78:1, not in 2.35:1. So yeah, it is cropped, but only on the left and right sides and not very much as the top and bottom were opened up significantly. See below.

2001 DVD Release:

2019 Apple iTunes:

A few other things of note...
The DVD offers a DD 5.1 track in addition to a feature-length audio commentary by Director Taylor Hackford. There are some non-English speaking parts as well. They're burned-in though, not forced subs sadly. The iTunes version offers DD 2.0 audio only, no commentary track, and no subtitles for the non-English speaking parts.

In any event, I just thought I'd chime in for those who have dismissed the iTunes download sight unseen. Yes, I'd prefer the original aspect ratio, but this is more than watchable until an actual Blu-ray is released. Looks to be a clean transfer. Well, what little I've seen of it so far. Will be watching this tonight. Looking forward to it.

Come on, when's this getting a blu? Big Russell Crowe film with Meg Ryan.

In the meantime making do with my Playstation Store 2.35:1 HD version.

Seriously, right. I'd love to see this released on Blu-ray. In the interim I grabbed the Cinemax stream (1080p/23.976 | DD+ 5.1 | 2.35:1) which is in the OAR.

Looks like this finally got a blu release… in Spain. The bad news is that the case says it’s in 1.78 again.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to buy the 2.35 version anywhere online (the above poster says Cinemax but I don’t have that in my country)?

The stream available on AmazonPrime here should be in 2.35:1.
