I watched Wild Target again recently, Limehouse Golem, all of the Underworld movies, and I Frankenstein. All so good in them home Cinema, 3d, Atmos, etc.

I grew up with Christopher Walken and when I first saw Bill Nighy I was like whoa he's the British Christopher Walken!! My biggest treat was seeing them work together in Turks & Caicos. BTW if you haven't seen the Worricker series I highly recommend them. Lot of big names in it!

If you haven't already, do yourselves a favor and watch the Doctor Who episode titled "Vincent and The Doctor"...Nighy plays an museum tour guide and he's incredible. He always gives everything his all, no matter how big or small the part.

Yeah, I liked Worricker, but I haven't seen it since on DVD, and the image quality was horrific, and I couldn't bare to see on my current gear. I wonder if it is in HD anywhere.

I just rewatched this, great visuals in terms of solid fx, the movie looks like they spent money on it, action is generally exciting and there's plenty of it. However the story, dialogue and performances are all absolutely horrific. This movie is really poor when it comes to the writing. The 3D is really nice though and the plentiful action means you don't have too much time to dwell on how awful the writing is.

I finally got my hands on this. I love the Frankenstein lore and enjoyed this take on it. Better than Val Helsing.

Unfortunately my UK disc no longer plays all the way through, it was badly manufactured like many EIV discs and will soon no longer load at all. If you have this edition, check to see if you can skip through all the chapters as others have reported it failing too.



I have now replaced it with the German edition.

Thanks for the heads up. I also have the UK copy: I'll give mine a try this evening.

It might not be a overly desirable solution, and not possible for everyone (and perhaps not even legal?), but sometimes with a failed disc it might still be possible to rip it and thus the film that we've already paid for could be salvageable. Just a thought. Anyway, if my I,F disc has failed, I'll try ripping it to see if that works. (Caveat: I didn't especially love the movie or its 3D, but would say it's worth a watch..!)

Blu-ray players have built in error detection which ignores many of types of errors which stop a disc from being ripped.

I mentioned the possibility of ripping working because I came across this exact problem the other day: My 3D Blu-ray of The Mortician refused to play at all in one of my disc players and played with very bad errors in another that made it unwatchable. It ripped with no problems at all...

I can't rip discs but when these things happen it makes me wish I could.

Some of these duff EIV discs now only read as data discs, there is nothing that can be done with them in a standard Blu-ray player. Did your Mortician disc start off problematic or did it go bad?

Unusual coz for me it's usually the other way round. I've had discs that play fine but error out when I try to rip them.

I can confirm that, for good or bad, my copy of I, Frankenstein is still playing perfectly well.

As for my copy of The Mortician, I can't really answer: I only bought it a few weeks ago - and the disc must have been about a decade old so I can't be sure. (Although, in the Mortician thread, someone else mentioned back in the day that their disc had had the same fault as mine, so my guess is there was maybe a bad batch.)
