Talking iv'e got a question folks

i got a question me & my folks together bought a PS4 for my niece & nephew,

my nephew is 8 and my niece is 12. it's pretty easy to think of what games he'd like but do you guys know what games there are that a 12 year old girl may like? i honestly don't know because i don't have kids. their only other console is the Wii and i think they have a N64 somewhere to. as my brother and his wife were never gamers like i am. but i never had to buy games for a 12 year old kid before any suggestions?

thanks for all your help

Any of the Lego games I’d think would be good, they’re fairly unisex. They make them based on a lot of big franchises so there’s DC Comics, Marvel, Harry Potter, Incredibles, Star Wars . . . Probably depends on what she’s into. But they’re all very fun, not too challenging, and pretty easy to just pick up and play.

Overcooked might be fun for her. LittleBigPlanet 3 would be fun, but the first 2 games on PS3 are waaaayyyy better and not as glitchy.

I’d recommend the Ratchet & Clank games. Perfect for kids and adults alike and available at knock down prices now I’d imagine.

Don't forget you can also buy older games they may like in the store. DuckTales (not sure if it's still for sale)? Aladdin and Lion King are also being remastered, not sure if they are getting a disc release or not. Also, try some of the Marvel games. I won't say this game if for a boy or girl, I think a came can be played by either. I'm sure they will have fun with whatever you are able to find!

Ratchet & Clank
Spyro trilogy
Crash Bandicoot trilogy
Kingdom Hearts series

Those Lego games as mentioned above have multiple entries you could go for depending on their likes. Tbh though, it all depends on what type of games they like to play but PS4 has an amazing selection. Knack probably isn't the greatest of games per se but its been out so long it's gonna be really cheap and probably entertain for more hours than you paid for.

I personally feel that depending on her tastes as a 12 year old, they may begin to want to play more mature games around then. The question is whether you'd be fine with that and get titles like The Last Guardian, Ico and many, many more PS4 had available for her.

Aladdin and Lion King did get a disc release, and even better they come packaged together. Two awesome games from the 16-bit era.

Song of the Deep is a nice chill game (as far as I've played) and she'll probably like Horizon: Zero Dawn and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy (they're rated T)...eventually.

It's hard to say without knowing any of her interests but in my experience, girls like seeing themselves on screen/playing as characters like them. So a game with a female lead is a good place to start. And hey, sometimes girls just wanna shoot stuff, too, so if that's cool with the parents, I'd recommend the Uncharted series. Since it's story driven with a decent amount of action and time to chill and wander around, I think Uncharted is a great game series for new/young gamers. 12 y/o is basically a teenager so if she doesn't want to play them now she probably will in a year or 2.

Edit: Also if she likes dinosaurs, Jurassic World Evolution might good.

Ghostbusters The Video Game Remastered.

Rated T. Fun game to play, not too spooky, no crude comedy, and with the hype for the new one now starting, it's a perfect time to play it. And if they have actually seen and like the original movies, they'll enjoy it even more (but not required [it stands alone just fine]).

Spider-Man (PS4)

Rated T. Probably too intense at points for the 8yo, however it's a fun action pack adventure with a good balance of the serious and fun. Excellent story, fantastic gameplay, and absolutely something any young superhero fan would love.

Spiderman would be an excellent choice imo for a 12 year old but agree, little intense for an 8 year old probably in story. Probably a better choice would be 12 year old plays that and Lego Marvel Superheroes for the 8 year old which i believe has 2 player co-op

Flower & Journey are both kind of fun too. Simple by design, beautiful and kind of calming in action.

My 8 year old daughter's favourites are Minecraft, Rayman, Super Stardust, Cars 2, Lego City Undercover (open world game like GTA but for kids), Lego Worlds, Ratchet & Clank etc. She also loves to walk, glide and drive around in Spiderman, Batman and GTA but I must keep an eye out with those for any inappropiate action.

There’s also games based off Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon shows like Steven Universe, Adventure Time, OK K.O., etc. Or something like Dragonball or Naruto. RPGs are pretty much unisex like the Tales series, Ni no Kuni and Atelier. My 8 year old niece is a fan of Hatsune Miku.

My niece and nephew are about the same ages as yours. They used to love playing the lego games together via split screen. He still does. She lost interest after a few games. But that might be because they get very competitive with each other. Not sure she got tired of the games, or just tired of playing them with her brother.

Ratchet & Clank and Spyro Reignited Trilogy are must buys. They're remakes for the PS4 and they look fantastic and play brilliantly. Lego Worlds also looks very cool but I haven't played it.
