Default Untitled H.P Lovecraft Thriller (David Benioff & D.B. Weiss)

Quote:
Game of Thrones creators David Benioff & D.B. Weiss have set at Warner Bros an untitled thriller inspired by the graphic novel Lovecraft. Set to write the script are Phil Hay & Matt Manfredi, the scribe team behind such films as Aeon Flux, Ride Along and the Karyn Kusama-directed The Invitation and Destroyer. Kusama will be exec producer

The filmmakers are keeping it close to the vest, but I’m told the movie asks a horrifying question: what if H.P. Lovecraft wasn’t making it up? What if the monsters he created are real? Also, the movie will be set in 1920 within the Cthulhu mythos.
Benioff & Weiss have been eyeing this project and have been in discussion with Warner Bros’ Courtenay Valenti and Toby Emmerich for several years, while they were consumed with the monumental task of translating the George RR Martin Game of Thrones novels into eight epic seasons. The duo subsequently signed a megadeal to create TV and film projects for Netflix in August, but the discussion on this movie predated that deal. Source

I'm sure 7/8 of it will be really awesome. And then...

Here's hoping we eventually get a Call of Cthulhu movie. It's been a lifelong dream of mine seeing Big C on the big screen.

As far as Lovecraft movies go, I'd still like to see Guillermo Del Toro dust off At the Mountains of Madness.

If the source material is complete and they won't be using their own ideas to finish it, it could be good.

They’re not writing it, so I’m interested.

As do we all! The problem is that a major studio invests millions in a big-screen adaptation of one of Lovecraft's works, and then, because his work is in the public domain, anyone can come along and jump on the bandwagon. Can you imagine the utterly shameless ripoff that Asylum Films would make of 'Mountains'?

I am ready for this. Although, I agree that a "At The Mountains of Madness" would be better.

the book is full of weird visuals I can't wait to see how they would be transferred to big screen
but it's quite short for a movie, and the ending is kinda anti-climactic, I think

Yeah, very good news! I've read the comic on release day and always wanted a movie adaptation! And when a saw the movie "Poe", I again thought of that comic. Now, for sure, they'll omit some scenes!!!

I only have the paperback version of the comic, let's hope they re-release it in hardcover.
