So the three largest studios are exclusive to blu-ray then? (Sony, Disney, Fox)

I don't think any Blu Ray exclucive studio will go neutral, at least I hope not.

This year the two top studios are Paramount and Warner.
Universal is 5th, Sony is 4th, BVHE is 3rd and Fox is 6th.

However a few of the movies from Paramount in that total are already released - I think the only ones that aren't are Shrek 3 and Transformers.

They can only move 300,000 copies at most. If they release Transformers on blu-ray they could probably move one million copies over the holiday season.

What a retarded move.

I now how to help Paramount... Replace that new idiot that calls himself a CEO. He has made one bad choose after another ever since he took over.

Sony studios had 7 of the top 15 movies of 2006 (theater gross). Paramount only held the #10 and #13 spots. Universal didn't make the top 15. Paramount and Universal are the only hd-dvd exclusives. Blu-ray exclusive studios had 11 of the top 15.
Blu-ray exclusive studios are Sony, Disney/Buena Vista, MGM, Lionsgate, and 20th Century Fox.

Don't forget MGM - I don't know how to count them (part owned by Sony) distributed by Fox, but howeveer you include them, they are exclusive Blu-ray (with that pedigree, could they be anything else). MI III needs to become HD-DUD exclusive. If you hurry you can still get MI III on Blu.

If the rumors of the $150,000,000 incentive package are correct and it has been widely reported so I believe it is, how did he make a bad choice? Blu-ray has sold about 3,000,000 pieces of software with Paramount maybe having about 10% - 15% of that. They gave that up for 18 months? I doubt the Paramount Blu-ray sales have generated even a penny of profit. In 18 months, if things look better for Blu-ray, go back and release software in the format. All Blu-ray owners will forgive and forget since good things will happen for Blu-ray if that happens and the only thing that Paramount has done is gain by the incentive package received and avoid continued losses from releasing software for a brief period. If profits are to be made from Blu-ray, Paramount will be there to share. The $150,000,000 figure is crazy for one studios's share compared to what these formats are selling and the projected sales for the next 18 months.

Bad choice for whom?

Bad choice for the studios (Paramount and DWA)? Clearly not, because $150 mil is a lot of money and Paramount is seriously in the red. And $100 mil to DWA pays for at least one feature film.

Bad choice for the consumer? Well, clearly it is for Blu-ray consumers.

Bad choice for growing HDM? Seems they are happy to sit on the sidelines an let the other studios build the market. Then, they will exploit it if it comes. They are leeches.
