Default Do you have a magazine you prefer?

I was looking at the book shelf and saw two magazines that appear to be aimed at theatre's.

I saw "Sound and Vision" and "Home Theatre Magazine"

Does anyone sub to either of these? Worth getting a sub too? Is there any other mags that are blu-ray/HT/Audiophile type that are worth looking into?

I buy all kinds of mags, but subscribe to none. My faves are:

UHF Magazine: (Anolog issue coming next)
Stereophile
Absolute Sound
HiFi+

I have a subscription to Home Theater Magazine, and I enjoy it very much. Also have seen Sound & Vision and it's very good as well. Just got an invitiation for a $10 subscription to Stereophile, and may take up on it.

I have a friend that subscribed to Sound&Vision, and he would pass his old copies on to me. However, that mag was a little highbrow for me. I'm a simple guy; I like to hear things in simple terms. Also, it seemed like all the stuff they reviewed was all high-end items I could never afford. Oh well...

The reviews for both magazines claim this is what they review, when the people who review the stuff get the items for free, why would they review cheap stuff

Greetings,
I subscribe to widescreen review. They have dropped DVD reviews and are reviewing Blu-ray only now. They also do equipment reviews and have articles on shows with upcoming components and have occassional interviews with company heads. They have a crazy HT for their reviews..Good solid mag...

+1....I have subscribed to Home Theater Magazine as well. Ifeel it's a good magazine that isn't too over the top in the set-ups and price of the equipment it discusses.

I subscribe to Game Informer even though I'm not much of a gamer anymore but I'm still searching for any game I might like.

I subscribe to both Home Theater magazine and Sterophile magazine and enjoy reading them both very much. I believe Sound and Vision is the old Stereo Review magazine I grew up with. I don't have a subscription to that, but if they maintained the same quality as Stereo Review they should be decent also.

Before I bought my first home theater system I bought these two magazines from retail stores. I liked Home Theater Magazine better for my research because they are targeted more towards budget customers. Sound and Vision magazine is a little more high-end.

While some of the feature articles in Sound & Vision are nice, I have to question how seriously they critically evaluate the equipment they review. I see lots of puff pieces with hardly ever a critical word in them.

Is anyone saving their old Sound & Vision Magazines? I've been looking for an article in the Sept 2003 issue. I've googled with no luck.

I get them all, and find the reviews and "letters" helpful.

HOWEVER: Who can afford this stuff? Half million $ theaters, $20,000 & up speakers? Etc.
Kinda makes you feel inadaquate!

P.S.: I'm going to barf if I see one more photo of a TV mounted above a fireplace!

Man, that's the LAST thing I need.

I'd have new speakers every month.
