Carol blu-ray only happened one time. There was really only one fullslip. Then there was a record sized slip and a special box. They sold out fast. The demand is there.

DVD's happened a few times and they all sold out quick except for the newest one.

I'm DEFINITELY looking forward to this one. I didn't have the money for the square sleeve or deluxe box when they came out but now I'm prepared to buy every version of Carol PA releases!

The good news is PA said on their Korean Twitter that they will take orders through April 16th and make 100 more copies than the total number ordered at that time. So it'll be much easier to get this version than the last 3 blu-rays. I just wish it was a numbered edition.

Someone posted their Carol collection on Twitter and I don't recognize the top 2 editions in the stack. They have a lot of PA's but these 2 aren't PA and I don't see entries for them on here. Can someone help me out?

The top thing is the CD soundtrack. It says Burwell because Carter Burwell did all the music.

The second thing might be some kind of book. I'm not really sure.

The thing is this movie sells great for them. It always sells out. The 2nd edition blu-ray was a year and a half ago. The UE10s were a year ago. People like me have 6 blu-ray editions of Carol now (and 1 DVD). People on Instagram are excited about it too.

There's that screenplay too that's been selling well and bringing new people to the site.

Regardless, they’ve teased too many other releases in the past two years (World War Z, Son of Saul, Florida Project to name a few) to keep regurgitating former bestsellers; especially considering their output has already been at their lowest in years.

RE: Re-releasing Carol again, as per their Twitter (google translated):

< Carol > The reason Blu-ray is relaunched is that there has been no product on the market for a long time. Inquiries have been accumulated over the past 18 months, and there has been a demand for re-launch from each shopping mall, and the copyright holder only keeps supplying the market for the period allowed. They supply to more than just online orders and have received interest in another Carol release. Maybe they're just not getting enough interest in the others you've mentioned.

The discs have the same content as before. Just new disc art.

I just put one of the bonus discs in to get the times. It is mostly interviews with the people involved. The main menu is in Korean, but every video is in English. I don't know who all the people are, so for some are just times.

I’m guessing this is EPK material. Not necessarily a bad thing but usually aren’t as strong as other forms of interviews - they’re meant to be stitched together as pull quotes by the press/promotional featurettes. My hope is the interviews aren’t redundant or duplicate so much of the same material as the interviews on the first disc. For a long time I just assumed this would be a holy grail of 2 hours of B-roll! (There’s 12 minutes of B-roll available online.) At least these aren’t available online and seem exclusive to this disc.

The German disc from Universum has a similar selection but there’s fewer interviews and of different lengths.

I threw in a pre-order but I’m hoping that I’m not landed with import duty (even though it isn’t a large item). I can get it on eBay for about £5 cheaper but I suppose there may be less chance of that being fulfilled than by going directly to PLAIN.

Their output has actually been quite productive this year considering they've had a period of blu ray release inactivity, due to the relocation of their office, a period of talks in Korea related to physical products and arranging one off cinema showings.
Admittedly, the blu ray output has been lower than previous, but they've released some amazing books (the Carol, parasite and Mother books are of Incredible quality) in their absence.
They've also previously gone on record stating if it wasn't for the Paterson release this year, the last 12 months would have been difficult for them.The book releases have proven very popular for them, parasite is currently on its 4th edition, Carol soon on its 2nd edition and Mother also on its 2nd edition.
As a business, they must be in a position of making profit. Carol Is hugely popular in Korea. The books also appear to be generating interest and no doubt profit. If this means a delay to the previous announcements, personally I don't mind waiting a little longer. A midsummers fantasia was recently officially announced after a long delay, so hopefully that's a good sign, fingers crossed.

My copy just arrived! Even without the booklet, slipcover, patches it still feels like a special release. The PLAIN ARCHIVE EXCLUSIVE sticker lines up with Carol and Therese kissing. The red title on the cover and the gold title on the spine both shine. Inside the case, the disc art has the beautiful painted artwork I admired on the slipcover release, and there are 4 small black and white photographs printed on cardboard.

Although marked as Region A it works fine for me as expected. Although the Korean subtitles can be removed on the first disc (there are options for English and none), on the second disc I can’t find an option.
