I did! I went to the Once Upon a Time, Futurama, Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, Vampire Diaries, and True Blood panels. I mainly went for the animated show panels but since they don't clear out the room between panels, I stuck around for the whole thing. It was my first Comic Con and it was so much fun. Now that I've experienced it first hand, next year I am going in with a better strategy to do everything I want to do more efficiently. If only I had money, I could easily blow thousands of dollars on all the cool things there.

Yeah, I can only imagine how hard it would be to see all those rare collectibles and try to have some restraint. I love True Blood that is so cool that you were able to go to those panels! I bet it was so crowded! I hope to someday save up enough money to go.

Had to reorder from BB.com as they didn't actually have any for in-store p/u, despite the website showing that they did.

Also, Amazon just dropped this to $7.98.

Hulk Hogan. I can't recall if the John Wayne scene is on the special features though.

EDIT: Yes the John Wayne scene is on the special features.

Hulk Hogan, unfortunately. But the better version with John Wayne is presented as en extra feature.

I do wish there was an option to pick which version you watched. I never saw this in theaters (I was way too young at the time) so to me, the VHS version is the “true” version lol.

I also think it would have been neat if they created a “bad disc” version of that scene for DVD, Blu-ray, etc.

Hulk Hogan and the great Paul Bartel versus a third-rate John Wayne impersonator? I'll take the far more meta theatrical version anytime.

I saw GREMLINS 2 opening weekend in 1990 and was initially fooled by that damn clever "projection mishap" scene so I'm certainly glad that's what's been preserved on the Blu. I first owned this title on LaserDisc, so I wasn't even aware of that scene being reconfigured for VHS until years later...though I'm glad it's included among the extras. Just reading about this film has me eager to revisit it; like Spielberg's undervalued 1941, it's an exuberant MAD magazine parody come to life, and I love the infectious go-for-broke energy and madcap spirit of both films.

Not to derail the thread, but I came across both seasons of the 2005-2007 Masters of Horror on Tubi recently and watched the two Joe Dante-directed episodes. "Homecoming" is a terrific anti-war episode done with zombies and I was really surprised by "Screwfly Solution" - it has none of the cheeky tone usually associated with Dante's work and is played for real intensity.

Dante is one of those filmmakers who continues to rise in my estimations; such a wonderfully clever and intelligent director and satirist.

I saw Gremlins 2 on the big screen too and I loved that scene. I remember friends who had only seen it on home video wondering where Hulk Hogan was in the film and I thought they were crazy. When I had the film on VHS I actually waited for a TV broadcast and recorded that scene after the end credits of the film.

I remember seeing Gremlins 2 in the theatre and it was one of those event film going experiences I'll never forget. It was a huge theatre with a full house and they gave out little Gizmo toys. I remember renting it on VHS when it was a new release and saw the John Wayne scene and remembered not liking it as much as the Hulk Hogan scene.

On a side note, my folks went through some old boxes while getting Christmas decorations down and found a bunch of my old Gremlins 2 toys from when I was a kid. It was a real blast from the past!

Happy 30th Anniversary to one of the funniest films I've seen, and my favorite sequel of all-time.

The city so nice they named it twice!

I’m a product of the ‘80s, so the first Gremlins along with my plush Gizmo are very special to me.

Gremlins 2 is on a completely different plane, though. As nostalgic as I am for the first one, this is one of the few sequels that are truly better. Everything just “works.”

I wore the tape out of the first one we had in the late 80s but I’ve seen this probably 100x more now.

Unfortunately I didn’t get to see it in theaters, but I remember watching it when it premiered on HBO in the summer of 1991.

I can’t believe it’s been 30 years.

Gremlins 2 is a sequel that deserves a 30th Anniversary re-issue on 4K UHD with a new scan!

I just watched the first Gremlins movie last week with my young kids (holy cow did I cough loudly over the "and that's when I found out there was no Santa Claus" line). I'd been thinking about when to show them The New Batch. Guess that tears it. It's gonna be today.

UPDATE: Watched it with the kids and they mostly liked it. I feel like I had to explain far too many jokes to them, though. I still prefer the original, but the sequel is just bonkers so there's nothing wrong with that. Phoebe Cates' bit about Lincoln's birthday always makes me howl. And man, I forgot how bad that John Wayne VHS sequence was. So happy to have the original Hulk Hogan scene in there. Being from Winnipeg, our family had a chuckle at the "Chez Winnipeg" sign from the deleted scenes ("You want another Molson, eh?").
