It’s an easy insult to throw at people instead of actually saying something. He was probably seconds away from yelling Disney Shill.

The cats should actually have paws this time.

Someone said that all the cats in the film have human hands actually. Someone on Twitter said they are still dropping in new VFX shots, separate from the patch is what he implied ^^ Peter Jackson would have loved to be able to do that on DOS I have no doubt.

I wasn't insulting anyone. I was joking. Just like he was. Hence my smilie at the end. Thought it was fairly obvious myself.

Besides, how could I yell Disney Shrill? Disney owns Star Wars as well. That would be a bit redundent, wouldn't you say?

I am going to buy it too, hopefully they will retain the 4k version, because there are some ratings on IMDB with 6,7,8,9 and some 10 ratings. Those people deserve a 4k. I wish it had been 3D myself. It's all how you look at it.

I have not seen the film, but it sounds like alot of art and fantasy. Youngsters today go for the fantasy, but usually don't understand art especially theatrical art. And they certainly don't understand this type of music. Look at Les Mis, the movie. They had to update the orchestrations and add many electronic sounds, Chicago was really filled with constant low frequency drumming, much more than in any of the Broadway cast albums, Mama Mia even had its bass line strengthened for the film. What I am saying is that the Broadway musicals that have been made into films in the last 5 years do not have a more classical sound to them like Cats would be, in fact all of them have updated orchestrations earmarked for the teens. And those that did make it to the screen had their orchestrations changed to pan to the younger crowds. Not all of the lines in Cats rhythm, there are alot of minor notes, much of the story is within the music, things the younger generation is just not used to. Just my opinion I might add.

Now for Cats (the musical) fans, most of the reviews have been very good to spectacular. What seems to be the problem is that the writer/director were not able to film a version that would interest people who have never seen Cats or to understand it or make you care for the characters. I have seen the show live twice and never got into it, and I am a huge and I mean major Broadway fan. I just never liked it. But there were some songs I felt worthwhile, not as many as the usual Andrew Lloyd Webber shows. That is one of the reasons I will buy this, and also because I guess I was one of the people who really got excited by the trailer, whether I liked the stage show or not, maybe I am one of the few but I really liked the trailer. All of the public fuss was a surprise to me. And I thought nothing of the character designs and fur, ect when I saw the trailer, I thought it was cool.

What makes me sad is that this is a musical that is bombing hard, and that is not good news for any future musicals that might be in the planning stage. That is where this really will hurt.

I'm going to buy it and I can't wait. I really wish I could see it in theaters this week but I just don't have the time, and now I've lost some interest in seeing it later on due to the "updates" or whatever it is they're doing to it. I'm a bit bummed that we will now have original and altered versions of the movie and in all likelihood it will be the altered version on disc.

It's just some unrendered effects that were fixed. The fur wasn't rendered on a character in one scene and Judi Dench's human hand is visible in another.

In that case I am all in! I figured it must have been a bigger update considering all the coverage it got.

It seemed to me they didn't add fur to hands or feet for anyone, not just Judi. Maybe that was just a style choice? Anyway, lacking fur is the least of the movie's problems. I was hoping for so-bad-it's-good, but alas it's just bad. Not as bad as sitting through Russell Crowe in Les Mis, though.

If Universal doesn’t cancel the 4K I’d be shook.

Is the basic stuff all that was fixed? Everytime I saw the trailer it creeped me out that the faces seemed to move slightly, but the heads stayed in the same spot... or when they should be looking dead straight, the face was a little turned.

The visual effects here may benefit from being watched in 1080p.

God I hope this one doesn't get out of a physical 4K UHD just because it bombed to hell. I personally actually enjoyed the movie.. but I must admit, I'm biased because I love the musical.

EDIT: According to IMDB, it's actually native 4K, so we would DEFINITELY benefit from it, regardless. I HOPE they don't cancel.

This release will be a collector's nightmare because the studio will release 11 copies to match their anticipated sales but only sell 4. No resale value.

Or not. Who knows? Wouldn't be the first time a movie tanked in box office then did better in home video and streaming

I hope it isn't canceled. It isn't a good sign that it isn't up for presale on amazon. I preordered it from Target. I kinda liked the movie too.
