![]() ![]() The Hunt for Vlad the Impaler Blu-ray Blu-ray.com overview: "In the middle of the 15th century, in the depths of Turkey during the Ottoman Empire, the land is torn apart by horrendous atrocities against the terrified people by the cruel and blood-thirsty, Vlad the Impaler. The ruler, Baba Sultan, orders a group of seven fearless warriors known as Deliler, to hunt down Vlad and end the persecution once and for all. The seven heroes set out on their long journey, stopping at nothing until they find the inhumane Vlad and defeat him in what will be a battle to end all battles." Considering this is a Turkish movie, and Vlad was defending Vallachia against the invading Ottoman Empire (Turks), am I the only one that finds it a stretch? It's like 300 from the Persian side, with Persian heroes against the savage Spartans. ![]() Last edited by Deciazulado; 05-14-2021 at 08:26 AM. |

Struck me as sort of a comic book superhero origins film, as such is was a decent movie, but like many such movies, the overly melodramatic backstory flashbacks and lack of a strong forward moving storyline don’t help. Certainly not a 5 star film, maybe 3.5-3.9 stars. I liked it, but hope the sequel will be stronger. Could use stronger actions scenes, fewer quick cuts etc. The band of warriors all look pretty cool. If this wasn’t from a comic book, then I have to imagine a Turkish comic book would be in the works because all the elements are there

I wanted this so much to be good. I wanted gory scenes of people being impaled etc. But what I got was 7 weird guys going off to try and kill Vlad.
These all appear to be people in the Turkish TV industry who wanted to make a genre film for profit and career advancement. (failing to do either) in terms of fight scenes, 2 words sums it up "exploding haystacks". Haystacks which when a flaming arrow hits them, explode purely for visual impact, (yawn) My blu-ray copy is for sale on ebay right now. |
