Not 100% sure about your blu-ray player, but if it is set to output sound as PCM, then you might be having that issue. Anyway to set the player to outpu sound as bitstream, that way the receiver decodes the audia instead of the player decoding the audio and sending it as PCM.

Jsut doublechecked your player and your receiver. Both devices are capable of decoding the HD formats.
If you set your player to bitstream via hdmi, then the HD codec will appear on your reciver and the receiver will decode the HD audio. If you set you player to do PCM, then it will decode the HD audio and then send it to your reciver as PCM. It will appear on your reciever as it is now (linearpcm) but is still HD audio. Only difference is your player decoded it to PCM as opposed to your receiver decoding it to PCM. Which is better at decoding the HD audio is up for you to decide as their are alot of debate going on to which device decoded the HD aduio formats better..the player or the reciever. I am Legend is a Warner title. By default, they load up the lossy audio track- Dolby Digital, etc. Make sure you go into the menu and select the TrueHD track. Though even with that it should still say DD or Dolby Digital on your receiver if you're bitstreaming. If it sticks on PCM I'd say your player is doing the decoding still.
*edit* For sure, that's what's happening if you're seeing PCM on this title, as it doesn't have a PCM track- only TrueHD. |

Make sure your receiver isn't set to TV and Amp for audio out. This setting on the receiver will make this happen, since the TV can't handle the high-def audio. Change it to Amp only and you should not have this issue anymore. I had this issue on a Sony STR-DG920.

First thing that you want to ALWAYS do is go into the disc setup menu and make sure the audio selected is the one you want to be hearing... ESPECIALLY WITH WARNER TITLES as they are never set to the HD track. |
