Not sure what your suggesting but I only knew him from afar. It is still upsetting to read and hear about.

I was sleeping and watching movies all day so I was unaware until late late tonight -- I couldn't believe the news. Just shocking. I'm without words. His poor daughter.

This morning I'm still in disbelief. Loss of life is always sad and tragic, but to lose someone who has given so much and still had so much to give to our world is heartbreaking. Rest in peace, Mamba and Gigi, as well as to the other passengers.

Yeah, the "other passengers". I liked Kobe of course but I find that these shows and newsfeeds aren’t even mentioning the other eight human beings that were killed too. Just saying.

Here's an article about the other victims if anyone wants to see who they were.

A day later and I'm still in shock over this. As a long time Lakers fan this really hurts. I also feel bad for all the other passengers and their families. Life is fragile and can be gone in an instant. I made sure I let my loved one know I loved them yesterday.

The thing about Kobe Bryant's death that is really leaving a profound impact on me, isn't the passing of a basketball or cultural icon, which he was. But the fact that he was with his 13-year old daughter, doing the thing he valued more than playing a game he dedicated himself to for more than half of his life; And that was being a father.

Ever since I became a father myself, stuff like this just hits harder. It reminds me of the fragility of life, and the unpredictable things that can happen, and that no matter how hard you try, you have no control over what happens. It's the biggest fear I have every single day of my life since 2015. It's not knowing what my daughter's future will be--nor how much time I will be able to spend with her for whatever remaining time I have left on earth. It's the one thing I know I've never taken for granted. The one thing I know I've allocated purely unconditional love to.

I also feel for Vanessa Bryant. No parent should have to outlive their child. It's something I don't even want to imagine having to endure.

And on that note, I just hope that every single soul involved in that tragic accident, are at peace.

Jimmy Kimmel put out a really great tribute video to Kobe. Moved me to tears a few times.

You're right. The outlets shed light on the other seven victims.

Good - I must have caught a few news casts, sports shows & whatever that seemed to focus only on Kobe. I get it, hes a star and I liked the guy but too often when famous people die we forget that lots of people lose loved ones and it isnt any less important. Something like that. Im off my soapbox.

RIP, Kobe.

Wow. Just watched that video, and it was definitely very moving. It's still so hard to believe what happened. But what a player, and even more to the point it's truly something else how much he moved so many people in so many ways. I mean, obviously one of the greatest players there ever has been or ever will be, but also an author, an Oscar winner, and someone who clearly motivated so many people to be great in their own lives, their own endeavors.

As sad as it is dealing with this tragedy, Kobe can still bring a smile to my face repeatedly. What a personality and sense of humor he had.

Question

Was there any truth to him producing a new Friday the 13th movie? And does this put the kibosh on another Space Jam?

I think that was LeBron James, not Kobe, on both counts.

Sorry, I don't follow sports. Those are literally the only two current basketball names I know.
