Default Worst Director Of All Time?

Who's the worst movie director of all time? One's known for notoriously awful game adaptations, one for notoriously awful "spoofs", two for really bad explosion porn movies with tropey characters and butchering of beloved franchises (Transformers and Godzilla), one for notoriously bad torture porn movies, one for making a godawful trilogy of films that's gross just for the sake of it (same thing really), one for notoriously bad horror films with B-movie scripts and logic holes, one for awful comedies where he self-stars and cross-dresses, one for butchering of DC movie adaptations and original IPs (Sucker Punch), one for his butchering of adaptations of classic videogames and horror/sci-fi flicks, and one for making some of the worst films of all time of any genre. So, who's the worst?

Of those choices, Seltzberg is the worst IMO. I would say Uwe Boll, but his movies at least have a "so bad they're good/funny" vibe to them (gotta love petrified teens suddenly becoming Matrix-dodging kung fu masters when fighting zombies in HotD), and they at least have SOME semblance of a plot. Seltzberg's movies you can't even sit back and laugh at how stupid they are, and they actually ARE supposed to make you laugh because they're comedies, and have virtually no plot. They don't even really qualify as movies, nothing but shit jokes, corny pop culture references and people getting crushed by something, stuff that only someone with the mindset of a 2 year old would find funny. There's a reason why they WERE 2 of the 6 writers from Scary Movie: they were fired for being talentless hacks.

Bill Zebub

I'm not even sure he could qualify as a director his stuff is so low rent, but when you can't even muster a few trashy giggles in a 3 1/2 hour film called Dickshark https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5095208, things have gone deeply wrong. His formula is to come up with a sleazy sounding title that you might of expected from 80's or 90's Troma and then make some camcorder trash that looks like it was shot over a period of time that is only slightly longer than the running time.

Tyler Perry, among directors whose work receives a wide release. He treats the audience like they're toddlers, is ignorant of how a film is made, and is just general unappealing in every way.

Uwe Boll is at least so bad that it's fun to laugh at his films. They're harmless.

Bay at least has made on great movie. The Rock.

With Ed Wood, at least I can feel that there was a man who wanted so desperately to make a movie. Even in movies as bad as Plan 9, there's still passion on display.

Paul Anderson can shoot a beautiful movie and he made Event Horizon, so he will forever get a pass from me.

The rest are just mundane.

Zack Snyder is a f**king artist on another level than all of these hacks and should not be in this poll.

None of them. While they might not be masters of their craft, directing a movie takes a lot more talent and trust than you probably realize.

I would love to be put in that position, but I don't have that talent, or trust, or funds.

So I guess I am worse than all these guys

John Leonetti for that horrendously bad MK Annihilation... "Destroy All Expectations". They weren't kidding.

I went through a phase with Uwe Boll. I do appreciate some of his work as a "so bad it's good" cheese-fest, but with other movies (most especially films like Auschwitz) it's clear that he wants to be taken seriously and beat important messages into us, but can't help himself from glorifying violence on an exploitative level. I hear he's a cool guy to meet in real life, but his films come off as nasty and mean-spirited. Everybody was making a fuss over the messages of Joker, but what does a movie like Rampage teach? (I'll just leave that question at that, no need to go down that rabbit hole any deeper)

Haven't seen enough of Ed Wood's work to comment, but on the merits of Plan 9 From Outer Space, it seems as though he has his heart in the right place but has no eye for quality (and I guess no motivation to do more takes?).

I'm rather forgiving of Bay, Emmerich, Snyder, and Anderson (although I have to admit that Bay's indulgences and insensitivity to violence does show through, especially in 6 Underground). There are things I admire in Snyder's work especially, but the nihilistic tone is often troublesome (and the dude needs better scriptwriters). I like Shyamalan and I appreciate that he tries. I have no real strong opinion of Roth or Six, they're just schlocky. Haven't seen any of Tyler Perry's work. Friedberg and Seltzer are just not funny.

I feel as though Boll is probably the most deserving simply because he comes off as so bullish. But I feel like I've seen worse. Fred Vogel, with his August Underground trilogy, really grated on me even more. So I'd rather vote for that guy.

EDIT:
So, where's Tommy Wisseau on this poll?

Apparently, Leonetti directed Annabelle. Never did see it--was it any good?

MK: Annihilation does fall in the "so bad it's good" category for me, but Leonetti also directed The Butterfly Effect 2, which I'd say is mediocre.

I answered Owe Boll.

The problem with this kind of poll is that most people are really voting for director who style I dislike most.

Paul W S Anderson made a couple of decent film with Mortal Kombat and Event Horizon, but with his deluded dream of trying to become the next Ridley Scot with Soldier, his career died on it's arse and he has been cranking out garbage for 20 years with the Resident Evil franchise. So seemingly no US studio will now touch him...

I think including Bay in this ridiculous. Bay has made a number of solid films and even a few really damn good ones. And I don't even know how to respond to the Snyder entry. That's just outright absurdity.

Tyler Perry is pretty horrible and is whom I'd consider the worst in the business among directors that get their movies released to theaters regularly.

Michael Bay annoys me as he is too noisy, shallow, and arrogant.

Tarantino is just too violent. I always like 1/2 to 3/4 of his movies, but then it falls apart for the same reason every time.

No, no, no, those movies are just cancerous abominations. Not even "so bad they're good", they're just plain awful. Not even Godawful, Satan awful. I couldn't sit through more than 10 minutes of DisASSter Movie before shutting that shit off.

And no, Seltzberg don't deserve credit for Scary Movie 1. They did the characters, that's it. These two morons have never made/written a good movie in their lives, and they never will. Again, there's a reason why they were "2 of the 6 writers of Scary Movie".
