I'm looking for some good recommendations to hook up my pc crt monitor to my blu-ray and since it seems like HDCP isn't that big of an issue anymore since these adapters took off in the past 5 years, I would like to know if any are of good quality.
I'm trying to avoid those that induce black crush, or have any sort of PQ issues. Also I'm not going to follow the HDFury brand as they're the "MONSTER" brand of digital to analog adapters. |

I use this Belkin adapter for mine, it supports 1080p and delivers great results on my Samsung SyncMaster 750s CRT (which goes up to 720p) with no HDCP issues whatsoever. However, it needs to be duct-taped to the monitor's VGA connector since the screw sockets have been specifically designed to refuse those belonging to CRT monitor's integrated VGA cables. Otherwise, it works wonders. For best results, remember to change your Blu-ray's video settings from YCbCr to RGB (either Full or Limited, whichever fulfill your needs best).

Please take note that this is not my main display (I have a proper flat-screen with HDR for 4K UHD Blu-rays), but I just never got around to discarding it, and I occasionally set it up for the fun of it, and it provides excellent DVD quality. Which monitor model do you have? |

It's a Gateway EV910.
I have the Berkin adapter, but I ran a few comparison tests before only to discover the output has a very off color shift that doesn't match the HDMI spec. I was thinking about Tendek, but it was brought up there isn't any HDCP bypass and this wouldn't be of any use. Seeing the movies more natively on a crt is just one goal I have, but I'm also optimizing it's usage for current and past gen game consoles as well. Hopefully at some point I'd like to get a PC crt monitor that has widescreen support, but none of the HD processing built in as it only adds problems. |

It does? I haven't really looked at it before, but maybe since your monitor is a lot higher-end than mine, it is a lot easier to notice these kinds of errors on it (and you probably have better equipment to measure these things on the device). Also, since it is doing a digital-to-analog video conversion with an external device, there should be some inevitable video quality loss on the way. I searched around for more devices, but they all seem similar to the one I recommended, so it leads me to believe a good device of this kind that goes beyond "does-the-job" will cost a pretty penny, but if I find something else I will let you know. Also, analog video is highly dependent on cable quality, and I see that your monitor model allows for swapping video cables. Have you tried another VGA cable to see if the video cable is the issue?
