They'd have known advanced PC users would check and modify that file so they're clearly not going out of their way to hide that they're working on a PS3 version.

More than likely it'sa relic from the creation template. Really it's nothing to get excited over.

In a nutshell, it's simply a file that contains basic configuration settings for the application/program. It's significant because this is likely a core configuration file for all the platforms. Thus, having a section for the PS3 is evidence of the game being developed for the PS3. I'm not saying it will get developed for PS3, but just that it's a possible hint.

I thought Gamefly skipped me on this so I bought the game this morning. Then I get a text message that GF shipped it. I didn't want to pay $60 for the game cause I can keep it for a couple weeks at the rental price and finish it - AND, I could put that $60 toward some BR movies instead of contributing royalties to the root of all evil that is MICROSOFT. So now I have the game still sealed, debating if I should open it or endure a couple of days of waiting for the GF copy to arrive. GEEEEZ... this is torture. I wanna plaaayyyyyyy....

Default this should answer your question.

In a recent phone call with Joystiq, Ken Levine, lead designer of Bioshock, confirmed that there is no PS3 version of Bioshock in the works: "I promise you, there is no secret plan about the PS3 that we're keeping from people. There's no PS3 development going on that we're hiding." Levine explains the mysterious reference to PS3 hidden in the game code, noting: "There's lots of stuff that gets into game code, plans change over time and we got an exclusive deal with Microsoft ... that's not a Rosetta Stone discovery."

It appears that although a PS3 version was considered at one point, Microsoft secured the game as a Xbox 360 and Games for Windows exclusive, most likely through the mesmerizing powers of cold, hard cash. A fantastic decision on Microsoft's part -- it currently has a Metascore of 97, making it an easy contender for Game of the Year accolades.

I am going to pick it up, but the issue you mentioned is the only concern I had and personally sounds like something I am not going to be happy about. From the Gamespot.com review:

http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/acti...ck/review.html

But the visuals aren't without flaw--the game has an annoying seizure problem that almost looks like a correctable bug. On some consoles, the game hitches up and totally freezes for anywhere from one to five seconds at a time, then proceeds as if nothing happened. It doesn't seem to be tied to any particularly noteworthy parts of the game, and it happened only after playing the game for hours; but once it started, it didn't stop happening--even after we began an all-new game--and it can freeze up two or three times a minute. It's not the end of the world, but it's extremely frustrating and one of the few knocks this game has against it.

Anything that's dual launched on PC and Xbox 360 is exclusive. I just don't fell like dropping the cash needed to run the game on my PC. It would cost more than a 360. However I am not that dorky to need a scifi FPS game.
