It’s just that and Billy Lynn available on 4K UHD.

The Hobbit films were shot in 48 FPS but aren’t available. X-Men Days of Futures Past was shot HFR but never released anywhere in that format.

Couldn't watch it personally, had to swap it out for the blu bc it made the effects esp blu screen stick out like balls.

James Cameron has actually decided against HFR. He’s done tests and he’s probably watched Ang Lee’s movies. I find the technology fascinating but I feel it has the opposite effect of what’s intended.

I'd be interested to see a movie shot in 50 or 60fps that did not incorporate any CGI...

I agree! I’d like to see documentaries like those by Errol Morris or Werner Herzog shoot with HFR. It would be incredible to see interviews with corrupt politicians or incarcerated criminals in such lifelike quality.

Me too. I saw "Gemini Man" projected at 120fps, which I didn't like the look of. But sometimes I wasn't sure if I disliked it because of the HFR, the uncanny valley of young Will Smith, or the 3D.

I'd like to see a 120fps movie that was not a fictional narrative movie. Maybe a nature documentary with no people at all.

Only Ang Lee movies so far. Maybe the Hobbits will be released on UHD in their HFR format..... but I doubt it.

It was a rumor, that I believe turned out to be wrong. When it came up, Fox said it was “completely false,” though I believe they shot the Quicksilver scene at a super high frame rate for effects purposes.

Not on UHD as far as I know, but 2012’s Total Recall shot its action scenes at 48fps for more fluid movement, but the plan was always to only project the film in 24.

I think HFR works really well when Ang Lee does it. I find he changes his shooting and editing style around the format, whereas Jackson shot/cut the Hobbit movies much more traditionally, and as more contemporary, realistic films, the sets and make up don’t stand out as much as they do in the fantasy world of The Hobbit (one of the problems with HFR is you become more aware of what’s fake with the incredible image detail and quality).

I don’t think HFR will or ever should replace 24fps as the norm. And I do ultimately prefer the traditional cinematic look (heck, I still have a soft spot for movies that shoot on film over digital), but HFR is a very intereting format I would like to see tried from time to time.

The Blu Ray of Oklahoma! also contains the 30fps Todd-AO version and you get some of the HFR Effect even there, like with The Hobbit the sets become more apparent, but I kinda feel that works for a very faithful adaptation of a Broadway stage show.

I wonder what a 50fps version of this movie would look like in 4K HDR...

I guess I’m on an island by myself because I love the look of the HFR.

HFR is perfect for documentaries and useless for movies.

Nope, 24fps. They were projected theatrically at 48fps, there's no way to achieve that frame-rate on a TV.

I love it! I don’t think all movies should use it, but I would like to see more directors experiment with it!
