Hmm, the Japanese description doesn't say anything about this being a new 4K scan. Not expecting it to be an upscale from 1080p or anything, but I think I'll be wait for screenshots before buying.

So... after some delays, it's out, and Schmullus from Discotek got his hands on it, and HOLY SHIT. I cannot believe this, there is actual film grain on an anime 4K UHD. There's clearly some DNR at play, but to see this much grain on an anime UHD is insane.

Album

And because it's Japan, we get a maxed out bitrate;

I'm at a loss for words. That's settled, I need to get a BD drive that's able to be Libre firmware hacked and rip MKVs of UHDs as this is too good to be real.

I've been using the same BD drive for 3 or 4 years, so I just haven't bought another one.

I was trying to make head-or-tails of some of the early reviews in Japan -- and indeed those reviews also mentioned the presence of grain. Good to know. No English subs is a bummer, so I'm waffling on importing. How long before someone might pony-up for a US release of these?

That's on Nozomi Entertainment. They never include the original audio mix on their retro Gundam releases (they include downmixes, so major bruh moment), so if they release it without the Mono, it will be disappointing to say the least.
