Default ‘Doc Savage’ TV Series (Sony Pictures)

Quote:

The Man of Bronze is headed to the small screen. Sony Pictures Television and Neal H. Moritz’s Sony-based Original Film have partnered with Condé Nast Entertainment to develop a scripted television series based on the Doc Savage pulp fiction franchise from the Street & Smith library. The project is part of the new three-year deal Original Film signed with the TV studio last summer.

The scripted series will chronicle his adventures, featuring rampaging dinosaurs, secret societies led by dastardly villains, fantastic gadgets and weapons, death-dealing traps, hair-raising escapes, and plots to rule the earth.

Executive producing the project are Moritz and Pavun Shetty from Original Film, and Oren Katzeff and Jon Koa of Condé Nast Entertainment. Condé Nast acquired the Street & Smith Library in 1959. (Deadline)

Excellent news! Please please let it be mostly serious and not resort to camp.

Interesting. Kinda glad that movie with Rock is not happening, because he would have played himself again.

Indeed. There's a certain amount of camp built in, but I don't want this to be like the Batman TV show (which I loved)... I also hope that they keep it the proper time setting. Fingers crossed.

I love the character and hope it is done right. Would also love to see the other pulp heroes, The Avenger or The Spider made into a TV show or movie.

Keeping the 30s setting to me is a must. A modern setting just wouldn't work in my opinion. The world still needs to have uncharted spots and the sense of wonder that comes from all these new discoveries and technology.

Now the Earth is mapped to within an inch and you couldn't be on a deserted island if your life depended on it.
