Default How the times have changed....

It wasn't that long ago that Casino Royale was released on Blu Ray as the movie to tip the format war in Blu's favor. Many people on these forums were skowering the internet trying to find the most update sales numbers on it as soon as they were available.

Now....Quantum of Solace is being released and it is just another title. I am excited but there are so many titles that have been released and that are being released that the excitement isn't the same. What a difference a little time makes.

True, but I still think there are too many bad catalog titles coming out on Blu-ray instead of new release independent and less well known films of good quality. Come on, The Wedding Singer? There are also too many documentaries. Why buy what I can watch on satellite television?

I agree with you there 100%. For me, as an example, I'd love to see a movie like The Killing Fields on BD, but there's no sign of that happening and that peeves me off.

While I agree with you on the matter of "bad catalog titles" - we must always consider the fact - well, the often repeated fact - that one man's bad title is another man's favorite movie, and that there will always be buyers for a movie.

Besides, I love Planet Earth on BR, tho!

If loving Planet Earth on Blu is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Some documentaries are great and are more than worthy of being added to people's Blu-ray library. Keep in mind that beauty in is the eye of the beholder. You may not like The Wedding Singer, but someone else may not like one of your favorites.

I just bought Short Circuit on Blu. I'm sure TONS of people don't like that one. I loved it when I was a kid, though, so for me there's a little bit more to owning this movie other than "only owning epic titles" like some of the others I do have and enjoy already (Transformers, Cars, 2001, Iron Man, etc.).

All of us have our guilty pleasures, even thos who won't admit they do Movies and documentaries offer a wide range of entertainment. Recently I've notice that many of the movies coming out on BD just were not interesting to me. I see it as a good thing overall, 1st the more BD movies, the more sales, the more chances the movies I would love to see on BD will come. 2nd, I get to save some money

I've got a few more "guilty pleasures" in the way of Blu that come to mind, but I'm going to try and show some restraint and buy them only when their prices drop like crazy. I bought Short Circuit for like $8 off eBay -- new and sealed.

I'm happy with the way things are now. All the new releases come out on Blu-ray and are easy to buy or rent. Many more catalogs are coming out as well.

My only gripe is the prices in Canada on Blu-rays to buy now but that is mostly the fault of the decline in the value of the Canadian dollar and nothing to do with the BDA. I sure miss the good ole days of 2008 where I could buy any new release for $27 Cdn max and any catalog for $20 Cdn max from amazon.com.

I have switched to more renting and less buying now and being much more choosy about when I buy and the price.

That is a very good price for a BD. So far in 2009 I've been pretty good on my purchases, couple of BD every other week. I love Coming To America with Eddie Murphy but I decided to just keep my DVD copy instead of buying the BD.

Coming to America might be a worthy double-dip. Fortunately I do not own that on DVD, so for me it would be a no-brainer to pick that one up...but I've got several on the list ahead of that movie.

My Short Circuit purchase for $8 is easily the best price I've paid for a Blu yet, but it's easily the worst movie I've purchased, too!
