Creed 3' Taps 'King Richard' Writer

A new writer is getting in the ring for the third Creed film.

Zach Baylin, the scripter behind the upcoming Will Smith movie King Richard, has been tapped to pen the third installment of the boxing franchise for MGM.

The movie will continue the story of Adonis Creed, played by Michael B. Jordan, but exact plot details are not yet known. A director has yet to be confirmed for the movie.

The first Creed film was written and directed by Ryan Coogler, grossing $173 million at the global box office. Creed 2 was directed by Steven Caple Jr. from a screenplay by Juel Taylor and Sylvester Stallone and went on the gross over $214 million worldwide.

It is unclear when Creed 3 will head into production, as Jordan has a packed upcoming shooting schedule. He film the yet-to-be-titled David O. Russell movie before heading into production on the Denzel Washington-directed Sony drama A Journal for Jordan.

First one is the best Rocky-related movie but I fell asleep during Creed II and never bothered finishing it.

I liked Creed II, but I'd rather see a Drago spinoff. Where else is there to go with Adonis?

Looking forward to it, but please leave Rocky out of it. His sendoff in II was perfect.

Second Creed was much, much better than the first and I'd prefer to see Drago spin-off than Creed III.
I'm not even sure If I can find a reason to see it without Rocky, I don't like those new characters that much.

Same here (although I enjoyed both Creed I & II), totally agree, Rocky added the much needed charm in these movies, without him, heh, they'd be way too sterile, his character has essentially become the "Mickey" of the series now, just wouldn't quite balance out without him.

Definitely looking forward to this. Loved part 1 and enjoyed part 2. I wouldn't mind if Stallone made an appearance but it wouldn't bother me if he didn't either. His send off in part 2 was properly done. I don't think there's anything more to add to his character. Let Adonis be front and center this time around.

Definitely got my eye on this one. I loved the first Creed, second one wasn't as good as the first, but still pretty good, though I wonder if they'll go full circle and do Creed vs. Conlan II for the title for the 3rd one.

It makes perfect sense, so why the hell not? Conlan never technically lost the title, it'd be Title vs. Streak. Perfect way to cap off the series.

I kinda thought Creed 2 was more than enough as a finished story, but i'm open to another one if it's right... and Sly can't not be in this one.

Creed 2 literally had the perfect ending for the Rocky franchise. Please there is no reason for Creed 3.

Loved the first, really liked the second, but with no Sly or Coogler involvement in this third one I'm not too sure what to expect.
