This film is one of my all time favouites. I'd love to see this film on blu-ray however the method of filming will, most likely, prevent that.
I currently own the first UK DVD release of this title. The picture is not great however I realise for the most part this is intentional due to the Dogma '95 rules and to provide that home video aspect. However I would like to know if there is a higher quality version of the film available possibly with a slightly better transfer than the copy I have. Have more recent releases had a new transfer of a more superior quality e.g. the 10th anniversary release? An additional issue is the sound. In quite a few places the sound clicks and jumps. However I'm unsure if this too was intentional for the film or is an aspect of a poor audio transfer. Does anyone else, with a different edition of the film, find the same issue or know more than I do? ![]() Last edited by Eusthenopteron; 03-25-2013 at 05:08 PM. |

I was just thinking about this movie the other day. It's really excellent, and I wish it was on BD too, but you're right about the filming technique limiting the chances of that happening.
In case anyone can't find it under the original Danish title "Festen" it's titled "The Celebration" in the States. Last edited by MifuneFan; 03-25-2013 at 06:01 PM. |

Sorry I don't. I caught it on TV one time and loved it, but if I ever pick it up on DVD, I'll report here if I have any similar issues. I don't recall any audio issues when I watched it, but it'd be hard to really recall that anyway.

I'm watching this particular DVD today and the aspect ratio is 1.33:1, which IMDb says is the original aspect ratio. The blu-ray.com page, however, says that 1.85:1 is the original aspect ratio. Which is correct?
