People do it all the time, not necessarily as a prank but as a creative outlet. This is why we wait for official news, straight from Disney or Best Buy before making assumptions.

Their steelbooks so far have been fine.

I actually liked the way they debossed the framing of the rose for this latest Beauty and the Beast 4K. It's different. I like it. But, most of the artwork they end up using is just ok. Not great.

Are you talking about the artwork on the back? Cause that's the original theatrical poster with different colors and I'm glad they used it and not another off model Belle clip art.
If you're talking about the revival steelbooks, they're fine. Not outstanding, but not as bad as the standard slipcovers. I was actually one of the few who weren't as enthusiastic as others about these and claimed they only looked good cause people compared then to the horrendous slipcovers, but their not bad at all, at least not to label Disney as one who makes bad steelbooks.

TBH I knew it was fake but didn't say anything about it. I have tried telling people, but they want to believe whoever and try to make me feel bad. So I just let them believe whoever and eventually they'll be the ones who are upset. Don't need their drama anymore.

It's fan art. People design what they think their ideal steelbooks is. Not trying to trick people. Other recent examples are the the Joker card steelbook and the Birds of Prey digibook. It's been happening for years.

I think this is the first where they bothered to do a J-card with interior art that replicates what Best Buy does with their artwork announcements. I would say yes, this was trickery. Not so much on the artist's part, but by the misinformation provided by whatever site this came from.

I was talking about how the BatB 4K steelbook used an interesting debossing technique, which was only applied to the front, the stained-glass rose. I said nothing about the back artwork, (which I actually have always liked, for the record), but just that I liked this particular release. I was speaking in broader terms, as I'm genuinely unimpressed with the BB steels. 101 Dalmatians has Cruella on a red background. K. Every character on the Sleeping Beauty steel looks off model. No. Just a couple of examples.

Hope the real deal works out for everyone lol
