Incognito Entertainment Team Forms New Development Studio

FOSTER CITY, Calif., March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. (SCEA) today announced an exclusive game development deal with LightBox Interactive, Inc.(TM), a new software development company formed by industry veteran and former Incognito Entertainment Studio Director, Dylan Jobe. Under the agreement, LightBox Interactive is signed on for a multi-year, multi-title deal to create exclusive software titles for the PlayStation(R) platforms.

"We are extremely pleased to be working with Dylan and his team in their new endeavor at LightBox Interactive," said John Hight, director of internal development, SCEA. "Through pioneering many online and community features on PlayStation(R)Network with the multiplayer game Warhawk(R), this team is established as leaders in the online category. I look forward to seeing what kind of further innovations they bring to the PlayStation platforms through this new development deal."

Dylan Jobe, the new President of LightBox Interactive, is perhaps best known for directing the hugely popular multiplayer title Warhawk(R), an exclusive PLAYSTATION(R)3 system title that was first to deliver consumers a game on both Blu-ray Disc(TM) and as a download on PlayStation(R)Network. Jobe is also known for his work on the popular hit titles War of the Monsters(TM) and Twisted Metal: Black(R) for the PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system. Jobe's former company, Incognito Entertainment, was a dedicated development studio under the Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios, Santa Monica Studios banner. His new endeavor, LightBox Interactive is currently based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

"We've forged a fantastic relationship with SCEA over the past nine years and with the formation of LightBox Interactive, our partnership will continue to grow, fueling the development of great games for players around the globe," said Dylan Jobe, president, LightBox Interactive, Inc.

I hope it is not Warhawk II - my marriage can't handle it.

So I guess Tau Crater was the final installment for Warhawk expansions..

Soooooo no more Warhawk support?

Warhawk 2 would be nice, but I'd like to see the first online only game get continued support.. I mean... if they take it down then it's practically a useless game

I don't think they'll take it down - but it doesn't seem that any new content is likely. I would think they would at least give hints that something was in the works - if anything was.

I wouldn't mind at least two new maps, and maybe a new land and air weapon to throw into the mix.

What? David Jaffe works for Eat Sleep Play... why would this confirm Twisted Metal?

i was all but sure that Jaffe confirmed development on a new twisted metal game within the last game. Eat Sleep Play should be working on it.

Hmm...you mean hints like the current game dropping below $20? Yeah, if only there was some kinda sign!

A game going into the bargain bin is not a sign that new content is coming.

Unless you know something we don't. . . .

Rumor:Warhawk in Space?!

Quote:
Informed sources tell Kotaku that newly minted LightBox Interactive Studio, made up of members of Incognito, are hard at work on a new take on Warhawk.

The game, described as Warhawk in space, has been in development for some time, we're told.

Reached for comment this morning, Dylan Jobe, president of LightBox Interactive Studio, had this to say:

"We're incredibly happy to continue working with Sony Computer Entertainment America and World Wide Studios. We've got a great relationship with them and I'm really proud of our new partnership. With regard to the inevitable "What are you guys working on?"... It's way too early to comment on anything but I can say that we have some really exciting stuff in development that our Warhawk fans *and* new players will love."

If it is actually "Warhawk in Space", I totally deserve royalties. Been saying they need to do that for a long time.

Laser rifles, space ships, EMP grenades, etc. etc. I'd like to see really exotic worlds/locations.

If it isn't "Warhawk", but basically some other online shooting game, that'd be dumb. Warhawk is a brand with a built in fanbase (that is still active).

Only thing I hope is that is retains the 3rd person view, since I just don't care for FP views.

I'm confused, so is Incognito still going to be around, and if they are, are they going to still make PS3 games? Or are they gone now? Just sounds weird the guy is leaving to make another company that does the same thing. Or is Incognito first party, making this like a David Jaffe, Eat, Sleep Play kind of move?

Absolutely. I wanted the massive air battleships - the closest we got was a dropship. What happened to hundreds of aircraft all over these big battleships?
