United Kingdom Bacurau (2019)

Great news! Looks like MUBI have a BD release of Bacurau lined up:

Very keen to see this one, so may have to pre-order it as I doubt my local cinema will be showing it. Have loved the last couple of Mendonça films and have heard nothing but praise about this one so it should be a keeper!

Not playing anywhere near me for understandable reasons, so very much looking forward to this!

Meanwhile, the Brazilian Blu-ray has been postponed. I wonder if you Brits will end up getting it first.

How have MUBI’s discs been quality wise? This is a fantastic film but the way it is shot will require some good encoding to ensure it isn’t compromised PQ wise.

How weird was checking just the other day if this had a Blu release here and now this. This movie looks really interesting.

Not an expert but Suspiria looked great to me, but I imagine someone with keener eyes would pick up some encoding faults. I was considering getting Under the Silver Lake and Border eventually and assume they’re okay discs too...

Nick Wrigley had a couple of tweets criticising the quality of one of their releases, might have been Under the Silver Lake not 100% sure though as he has deleted a lot of his tweeting history.

Just watched this on MUBI whilst working from home. 4/5 imo, won’t be cancelling the preorder. Highly recommended!

Also think MUBI are releasing Pablo Larraín’s Ema, so we could see a BD of that show up soon too. Love Gael Garcia Bernal so very much hope they do that!

I try stay away from Nicks twitter - if it’s not depressingly repetitive..it’s cringe-worthy.

You can separate out his politics if you don’t agree with it with his movie related posts. He knows what he is talking about there.

Except when he has a massive hate on for Mubi because the guy who runs it is a tory.

I’d rather just stay away to be honest - the majority of his tweets are political and he always comes across as a bit of an ass and it genuinely makes me cringe.

And no, I’m not a tory.

Will be catching this soon. Caught The Wild Goose Lake earlier today and thought it was brilliant, so if MUBI wants to give that a disc release I’d support that.

Watershed Bristol has partnered with MUBI for a 3 month free trial for those that haven’t used the service before, if anyone wants to watch the film before the disc hits.

Details? Might be interested. Even if MUBI are Tories...

I was going to see it at HOME in town before it closed under the present circumstances. Looks absolutely brilliant.
