From just the front it’s not bad but not something that makes me want to double-dip either. It’s kind of just there.

As I posted in the CBM thread, I think the brushed metal actually works with this.

$40 isn't the worst actually. I already have this amazing set (and the Amazon set) so I think I'll pass even though this show is the best.

That was my reaction too. Very lame and uninspired.

Looks better than the metalpaks from the collectors edition by Funimation.

Tempted to triple dip, I've gotten the Funimation set, and a custom one already that holds the series and movie, the design is nice, but I don't like how simplistic it is. $40 isn't bad compared to Big O being more from Sentai.

Will buy this for sure as I always considered it my favorite Anime ever. I was proud to purchase my limited complete collection DVD set when it came out but I never yet try to buy it in Blu-ray. But recently I did buy it on Amazon video when they sold the complete digital collection for 4.99

Big fan of the series. However, missed opportunity with the steelbook art IMO. Would’ve loved to have seen the entire gang represented all on the front as well.

Already have the standard set from some years back, so I will stick with that.

i'm not trying to pick ANY fights here. But i think i agree with rickah i kinda like the brushed metal look.

BUT i do agree it could've been much better

At the same time though i personally think it looks waaaay better than the cowboy bebop movie steelbook coming out.

It seems like it's often the case that the most visually innovative series/movies get the dullest releases. For this one, you just think, "All you have to do is put any screenshot from the opening credits on a steelbook, coat it with gloss, and that's it! How difficult is that?" But I do think it'll look pretty good, regardless. Just...what might have been...

Best Buy has emailed me that release date is now Sep 15. So, how does this remain a Best Buy exclusive until Sep 15 if that's the release date? So is it NOT an exclusive?

Is Best Buy the only retailer selling it in the U.S.?

If so, then it's a U.S. exclusive for Best Buy no matter when it's released.

Nope. Thusly all the questioning of exclusivity.

It's up for Preorder on Amazon.com right now but it's 59.99 opposed to BestBuy which is 39.99. Also according to Amazon it has a digital copy which is cool even though I already bought the complete digital series on amazon a few months ago for 4.99. BestBuy did change it's date back to July too recently.
