Which UHD is the sharpest without EE artifacts?
Which UHD has the best HDR? Which UHD has the best WCG? Which UHD has the most immersive sound? Last edited by Streetlight; 03-16-2020 at 03:52 AM. |

Passengers has to be up there on the sharpness list.
Best HDR is subjective, but I would say Guardians 2 or Annihilation is hard to beat for HDR/WCG popping at your eyeballs. And I can't really answer the last one due to not having atmos speaker configuration, despite having a capable receiver... But WB catalog titles are some of the best. Transformers movies. Ready Player One. |

Gotta be Passengers for 4k detail.
The real shame is that going by existing 4k DI seen in theaters, what should be the reference disc for PQ would be Last Christmas, particularly regarding detail, it's like Passengers except it seems even more like you are really there and has a bit more colorful pop at times. But go figure, they release it on blu-ray only! And then for naturalistic HDR, one of the best uses was the special Dolby Cinema ultra limited theatrical release for Downton Abbey, but go figure, once again they release it on blu-ray only! The crazy thing is there have not been a lot of true 4k releases and what few there have been have often been shot on 35mm average stock with average or worse lenses in many cases, still a better and good look (heck the 4k wide gamut DCP for a few episodes of Friends look way better than the blu-rays, more detail and the colors are so intense, sRGB clips some of those colorful sweaters and other clothes and stuff so badly, although again, go figure, they have these on blu-ray only as well), but couldn't match the sheer detail and everything of a lot of stuff they have on blu-ray only. Aquaman doesn't have the detail by any means but for HDR it's pretty awesome. |

"Hostiles" has many demo worthy scenes IMO, we're talkin some scenic shots that rival the fancy demos from camera/tv manufactures.
"Lone Survivor" is another demo disc for me (audio is incred as well!) "Hacksaw Ridge" is also high on the picture clarity list with amazing audio too. |
