I have the PG 13 version since I bought the quadrillogy, will snag the unrated version the day it comes out.

Are there any imports that feature the unrated cut of this film?

Depends on the movie, I haven't seen Live Free or Die Hard's Unrated cut but some of them make a big difference. Daredevil is a much better movie in the unrated form and more mature; Pearl Harbor has a huge increase in violence in the unrated cut.

A lot of comedy that goes unrated usually makes almost no difference (like Anchorman or Starsky and Hutch).

After watching the unrated version on DVD, I felt a little ripped off. The back says the PG-13 version actually runs a few minutes longer! I don't know how that happened. They added a few f-bombs here and there including the complete yippie-kay-yay line. But even that's still a little muffled w/ a gun shot.

But the one thing that irked me the most was "it's now unrated because we added digital blood!" The film was shot with a hard PG-13. When people get shot, they were rigged with squibs that blast a bunch of white powder like what is seen in the theatrical version. In the unrated, they just digitally replaced the powder with painfully obvious digital blood. They did this same rip-off technique with the unrated version of Max Payne.

I SAY WEAKSAUCE! They should have just shot it R in the first place like, I don't know, the rest of the series!

when I watched avp1 while the unrated made it seem like a better movie it still didn't do enough ... but for some movies it does help.

The unrated version of Live Free or Die Hard has more than just digital blood and the restored catchphrase. It fixes a number of ADR problems that occur in the PG-13 version.

Here is a link with detailed description of the differences between the two versions: Live Free or Die Hard Comparison

Note that not all the blood was added back in digitally, some of the more violent footage are alternate angles/shots.

Well I am 29, I don't want to see a version of the movie that they edited to make it suitable for those 13 and under!

I agree completely. The unrated version of this movie is hardly different because they knew from the start that to maximize profits they needed to make it PG-13 so they didn't even bother shooting scenes that wouldn't be allowed in a PG-13 movie. This is one thing that worries me about the upcoming Terminator movie. Supposedly Warner is pushing for this to be a PG-13 movie, despite the fact that this is a very violent series.

I say give me Moon Bloodgood's breasts in an R Rating or give me death from a PG-13 Terminator! A world not allowing me to see this gorgeous woman topless in Terminator Salvation is just not a world I want to live in.....

It's as close to an R as you can get, actaully I've seen R's tamer than this film! Trust me the Pg 13 theatrical version has action & violence a plenty!

Saw Max Payne in the theater and I was very disappointed. I think Mark was just fulfilling a contract obligation... I hope anyways...

Thumbs down It looks like I am the man to tell the truth

I have the unrated 2 disc DVD of Live Free or Die Hard. Last nite I loaded the digital unrated copy on one of my PCs and I watched it. Ah, there are an enormous number of F___ words said through out the entire movie. I stopped counting. The movie was made with them in it and not dubbed. It is supposed to be an R rated movie period. It is a much better and fun movie to watch in its real unrated form. Believe me there is a big difference between the 2 versions. Unfortunately I wish Max Payne unrated was like that but it isnt. It is almost the same but even the little bit of extra violence and an F word here and there make it better.

I do feel ripped off on my purchase of LFDH. You know they will release it again and then we have to pay yet again. What BS.

I'm sure we'll see the quadrilogy re-released by 2011.
