Default Paramount and Warner - WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP

Please feel free to copy this and post it far and wide

Everyone:

The best way to fight all of this is not through indignant emails, but through polite and very firm phone calls, and more importently snail mail letters to people on the executive level, not hapless promotions and marketing people.

It is VITALLY IMPORTANT that our voices be heard, not only at Paramount, but at Warner as well, considering that they have always had a preference for HD DVD , and the right offer could very well cause them to follow Paramount's lead

WHAT YOU CAN DO.

Make POLITE, BUT FIRM phone calls, and 10x more important SNAIL MAIL LETTERS. No one will hurt you if you do BOTH, to the people in power to let them know how important you feel that continuing Blu-Ray releases is, especially when we could have a single unified format soon. We all know that will be better for the company, better for the retailer, and better for the consumer in the end. HD DVD people who are lurking, if you truely believe in letting the consumer decide, please join us.

Please do not send emails, or make online petitions. A phone call is worth well over 1000 emails. A snail mail letter easily 10,000 to people at a company. A hand-signed petition is worth its weight in gold (if you do it, please do not fake or pad it, cause that'll count in the NEGATIVE category if anyone finds out).

These are the people with the power to make things happen, and where you need to direct your calls and letters. Remember: BE POLITE. I cannot emphasize enough that angry calls will turn them off real fast.

The sooner you start, the better people. Call NOW and write TODAY.

EDIT FOR EMPHASIS: You need to ask to be transferred to these people's offices when you call. DO NOT let them put you in the general mailboxes.

I'm too scared to call people in person about this. I'm not that great on phones, I get nervous especially when talking with strangers.
That is why email and snail mail works better for me.

Whatever works for you, but make sure it's a snail mail letter. Fed-Exing it would probably have even more impact for the Warner letter, especially since time is important (you can bet they're watching reactions). The fact that you spent the premium on FedEx would probably get you 10x the impact. It's what I'm doing.

Emails will essentially be ignored.

Remember: Be POLITE!

For Snail mail if you have some extra cash send it USPS certified (as opposed to FEDEX), signature required, receipt required...someone then has to sign for the letter at the office, certified mail is typically only sent for SERIOUS documents AND you get a receipt back showing who signed for it.

I'd like to add, emphasis on Warner. We may not be able to change Paramount right now, but why fight a war on 2 fronts if you don't have to?

EDIT FOR EMPHASIS: You need to ask to be transferred to these people's offices when you call. DO NOT let them put you in the general mailboxes.

Good idea... Paramount has always been a sell out. I just hope Warner doesn't become one to.

Besides addressing our concerns to the interested parties, I think that another answer is to vote with our wallets, as most of these Studios think that critical mass is the key.

I'll personally keep buying the BD I like. Although losing Transformers and Shrek is a drag, this doesn't magically erase the Spidey, Pixar, POTC, Die Hard and the other announcements coming this way this fall! There's so much to choose from that I won't be able to afford half of what I'd want.

For the US readers, buying some BD at your brick and mortar stores could actually be helpful. B&M account for most of the consumer sales, and they're going to be instrumental in turning hi-def into a mass market. If BD sales increase, they may stock more copies and improve the visibility for the format.

No need for me to rethink my position on MS, as I've already switched to Mac a while ago.

I just wrote a letter to Paramount voicing to them my displeasure with this move. I said in the letter that no studio could ever sway me over to HD-DVD, but that I was bummed not to be able to buy their titles on my format of choice, and that they should be bummed about that too! I also wrote one to WB encouraging them to at least stay neutral so that the consumers could truly decide this for ourselves (I also told them that I have already picked Blu-ray ). I definitely encourage everyone here to take the time to contact these studios as well, especially now while this is still fresh in the news, and let them know what you think! Azumi, How are you liking that Mac? I'm considering the switch myself God I'm really getting to hate MS!

Well, it's like having very intuitive computers which actually work. They're very silent and reliable, and most programs don't need opening a manual because the interfaces are very visual.

I'll stop here because it's way off topic, but you may want to try one through a friend to see if it suits your needs.

We should all thank DISNEY and FOX for their loyalty to BD. No need to do it to Sony, as they are the creator.

Perhaps no need for the loyalty. But, you can thank Sony for the quality and choice that they are offering.

I will be writing and printing letters.

Recently, I typed and paper-mailed a letter to Lion's Gate appreciating their BD support but pointing out their mistake as regards to the special edition of The Punisher (DVD only, BD has only regular edition). I'd urge the rest of you to help me on this. I used the mailing address found inthe Legal info fine print on all of their DVD/Blu-ray products.

I get tired of hearing only Sony attached to Blu-ray. People hate Sony, so they hate Blu-ray, etc. Sony isn't the only company that was involved in the creation of Blu-ray.
