It’s got a lot of great gore and a pretty cool monster, that unfortunately gets little screen time. Hopefully, we can get a special feature, on making the monster effects.

I remember being disappointed leaving the theater. Still liked the monster.

The more responses I read the more I think this film doesn't get the credit it deserves. It is absolutely filled with character and, while heightened, these don't feel like "Hollywood" actors playing textile workers but the real deal. Even the female lead, while certainly pretty, doesn't look like a starlet or supermodel. This movie just has this grimy, sweaty charm to it from start to finish. My one complaint is that the horror stuff is admittedly pretty back-loaded with the real monster mayhem saved for the last twenty minutes or so. But it's such a quick watch and filled with such unique atmosphere that it hardly bothers me. Plus Stephen Macht and Brad Dourif are both a real hoot in this and seem to be having the time of their lives with their characters.

I didn't think much of this movie when I saw it in 1992, but it sure has grown on me over the years. Something about the story and atmosphere that I find really appealing as well as the unforgettable characters like Warwick (Stephen Macht), the Exterminator (Brad Dourif) and of course the Bat Rat monster.

I agree with everything you said, I believe the movie is underappreciated, it's a grimy yet fun monster movie

I hope Scream can get the TV version for this or at least those additional scenes. There are lots of little extra bits and even a slightly extended ending.

By most any objective standard, it's pretty awful and amateur. But it's just got this...*something*. Some...je ne sais quoi.

I love this movie. Reminds me a lot of me and my misfit friends working nights at a factory for little money. Even had a A-hole boss lol. Used to get off work at night covered in dirt and grease and sweat and just stand out in the parking lot and shoot the shit or go get beers. Good times. Miss those days. Definite buy.

I think if someone has ever worked a grimy, nasty job like the people in this movie work they'll like it a lot more. That's why I like it so much. I can relate to it. I don't even like or care about the horror element or monster stuff.

Couldn't agree more. I've always liked it but I never appreciated how real it felt until after I worked a factory job. There's just this intangible thing, this feeling, that the film gets so incredibly right.

They didn't do it for The Jerk or Teen Wolf, but it wouldn't hurt people trying to make them aware of it.

Ramboraph likes this film a lot and I finally watched it in the King 4 pack. It was a lot of fun.

[Show spoiler]A retcon of Dourif's last scene would be nice so there could be something else with that character - keeps sinking and finds an air pocket and survives. If I remember correctly, a casket bashes his head and he sinks in mud, so it would be an unlikely survival.

Yeah, but if he managed to mind-meld with Dr. McCoy first...

Why do you want to see the TV version, when most likely was modified from it's original theatrical presentation? Graveyard Shift wasn't a TV movie it was a theatrical release.

I meant as an extra, not in place of the theatrical version. Shout has included them from time to time if the television cut is different enough.

Agree with you about the work angle, can definitely relate.

I also remember Stephen Macht went from cool, kickass dad

To a$$hole boss

I'm still not entirely convinced that Stephen Macht and Fred Ward are two completely different people.
