Question Why Fuzziness ?

I'm kinda new to the whole hdtv bluray thing, but i've bee reading the forums and have found it to be very helpfull with all my questions. My question simply is I have a Sammy 50' Inch plasma connected to my HD cable box via HDMI cable and I noticed on scenes with fast moving pictures like sports when they are still the pic is great but when they start moving fast the pic gets fuzzy. Is this a problem bcuz of my HDMI cable. I bought it online for cheap.

Are you 100% certain that you are getting an HD signal?

The other day Fox HD was down and on my plasma is was HORRIBLY blurry because it was just an SD signal.

Does your Blu-ray player have the same issue?

Question

No my PS3 which i use for my blu's works great perfect picture, but when i watch tv (HD channels) when something on the scene is moving fast the pic gets all scrambled and when its still the pic looks fine. Just wondering what is it that transfers the signal faster so that don't happen is the my hdmi cabl, tv, or is it the signal from my cable provider...

Do you have Time Warner?

I hate their HD. All kinds of issues. Try a different HDMI cable or component cables.... just to troubleshoot...

Chances are that it is your HD signal since PS3 movies look great.

You should not worry about the HDMI cable you could spend £5 or £70 and it on't make a difference to the quality, the technology behind HDMI is all in the connection version, the latest in the UK is 1.3a

a 1.0 will do 1080p, so i doubt its anything with connection. if anything, maybe your used to 1080p and since cable is 1080i, your seeing the difference...

I have my DirecTV hooked up via HDMI to my Sony 1080P LCD. No probs with motion blur but seem to get a slight distortion in picture during scenes where the camera angles change back and forth rapidly during fast action in movies. Also see some distortion during WWE broadcasts when wrestlers make entrances amidst a ton of pyrotechnics. I've switched the HD receiver from 720P to 1080i many times and the song remains the same. I've chalked it up to signal compression by the provider since I have none of these problems with BD or DVD movies. I could be wrong, but that's the conclusion I've come to.

i think you are seeing macroblocking. when you say scrambled, do you mean like a block looking image on some of your screen.

if this is the case it occurs, because fast motion requires a higher bandwith to come through clearly (more action happening on the screen = more data needing to be transfered) if there isn't the space to transfer the data it will block.

Bingo! It's in your HD signal, compression artifacts and such.

It could be the HZ of the monitor. Is it 60 HZ or 120 HZ. 120 will not have the distortion that 60 seems to get in TV / fast moving sceens. You will notice though that this problem does not happen when watching blu-ray disks.

It's a plasma, so this is not applicable. If you have picture problems with HD cable/sat, and none with BD, it's more likely than not in the compressed cable/sat signal.

This is the intelligent way of saying what I was going to write
