Default Did the Paramount announcement cause you to buy any BD movies?

With the Paramount's announcement to go HDDVD exclusive did you go and buy some Blu movies as a response?

I went and bought Night at the Museum, Pirates CotBP, and Disturbia. I'm kinda thinking of taking Disturbia back since its Dreamworks but since it supports BluRay I'm not sure.

Did you buy anything to "stick it" to HDDVD in your own way?

It actually did the opposite. I'm so disgusted with the state of this ridiculous format war that I will not buy another title until it is resolved and there is only one format.

Even though I didn't really like the movie, I bought 300.

I actually bought Shooter on Blu to try to tell Paramount that I like their movies in Blu, and I finally picked up Kingdom of Heaven.

I didnt buy anything extra. I'm just going to continue to support Bluray as I have so far. I've decided that one studio going over means nothing to me.

Either Bluray will eventually win, and I can wait for it, or I buy a 360 addon or dual-format player when they are trying to get rid of stock for 10 bucks.

Plenty of stuff to keep me busy on Blu for a while, with Sony, WB, Lionsgate, Fox, etc, and especially including anime, with Funimation and stuff from other countries.

Not Paramount itself so much as what their defection represents. We are locked in a DVD-A/SACD style war, either Blu-Ray and HD-DVD will decline and disappear like their audio counterparts, or the companies with the deepest pockets (Microsoft) will buy out the war. Either way I stand to lose if I pour any more money into the war, so I'm going to cut my losses and sit this one out until it's done.

I just bought Rocky Balboa and Hellboy. Shame on you Paramount for turning your backs on the Blu community! Hopefully you'll regain your senses after your $150M gets sucked up in your losses!

Yep, I imported mine first Blu-ray from the UK, The Island. I was going to do it a few months ago, but thought I would just wait for the paramont version to show up in the US. Now, I rather give my money to WB. I will also pick up a few more in the next few weeks that I was going to skip.

Just came from the local Best Buy in my area. I picked up:

Pearl Harbor
Gone in 60 seconds
Wild Hogs

It was the sale of the week, ($20 off) and the whole Paramount thing just motivated me.

Now I'm REALLY looking forward to Sept. 18th.

In response to the news I went and purchased:
Invincible
Vacancy
Roving Mars
The Lookout
Shooter
Wild Hogs

5 or 6 days before the announcement I purchased:
A Scanner Darkly
Letters From Iwo Jima
Apocalypto
A Knights Tale
The Prestige

Also, since the SKUs may very well be discontinued via the announcement I may look to pick up this weekend:
Disturbia
Sky Captain & The World Of Tomorrow
Sahara
Sleepy Hollow
Pearl Harbor (I know it's not discontinued, but I still want it)

disturbia from amazon which i noticed was cheaper in blu ray then in hd-dvd...the cheaper format indeed...i'm a little pissed i wanted to wait on disturbia till blu movie prices went down a bit as i liked but didnt love the movie but now w/ the fear of not getting it on blu for a long time if i waited i ordered it.

stupid paramount...i want sony to just say you know what screw this "war" then announce that they are getting their entire library ready for release over the next year. then urge the rest of the blu studios to do the same. and then every week have each studio release a major movie from their collection, if they want to play dirty then take to gloves off and stick it to em where it'll hurt. make paramount beg to come back and make em wait outside barefeet in the snow for a week before you let them in to repent.

Indeed I did. Picked up a couple last night, pre-ordered Cars and Pixar shorts today, and the nanosecond the Fox pre-orders appear, I'm down for about half of that list of 29.

I was planning to order Transformers on BD, but Paramount can do something anatomically incorrect with that now.
