Default Cutting the cord on cable - need recommendation

What service would you recommend to stream live TV - i.e., Sling? YouTube TV? Hulu? Other?

hulu and netflix both have a 30-day free trial; youtube tv has a 2-week free trial. give them all a try...whichever one you like the best, go with it. obviously netflix won't get you local channels like youtube tv and hulu will, but it is another alternative. hell, you could get 2 of them and still pay less than what cable or satellite might cost (i know i can, here).

I'm a fan of sling but I think it is channel dependent, for some people certain sports channels are a necessity.

If you really need all the sports and Fox RSNs, then Fubo TV.

If you need most of the sports channels like tennis, golf, mlb network channel; but definitely not nfl network, then youtube tv.

If you're trying to save and want nfl network and don't need espn, then sling tv (blue). DVR and other packages or add-ons are extra, which keeps the base package cheaper.

Of course, there's pretty much no sports at all these days... I'm assuming that changes soon.

Between Sling, Hulu Live, and Spectrum TV, I liked Sling. I feel like Hulu had better offerings than Sling but I DISLIKED the layout. Spectrum had an à la carte package where you could pick like 10 channels for a certain price but their app was glitchy AF and I ditched it quickly.

Currently I use an antenna to pick up my local HD channels. I have a Roku and I have the Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+ package. That’s the only subscription I’m paying for currently. I also use Pluto for some older free stuff although their shows seem to run on a loop and the same stuff repeats often.

It also doesn’t hurt to ask a relative if you could share their subscription to stream live tv through the network apps. My parents have DirecTV so I also mooch off of their subscription and watch certain networks live through the apps on Roku.

What about AT&T TV? We use that at our office at work and it's just like Cable TV.

You have to ask yourself three questions:

1. What's your budget?

2. What channels do you watch and/or are interested in?

3. What features do you want (DVR, unlimited screens)?

That should help you out a bit IMO.

Youtube TV is now completely out of hand, they raised their monthly price to $64.99

I guess Google gave up on it, like they do with so many other things.

I doubt that raising of the price is considered giving up.

"Shortly after mentioning the new price point, YouTube TV VP Christian Oestlien directed users to this landing page to pause or cancel their service if they want to."

https://arstechnica.com/information-...-raise-prices/

If the executives are telling you where to go if you want to cancel on the day they announced a price increase, its usually a bad sign.

Hulu is AWFUL. I can't stress that enough. I use my sisters and would never, ever choose it.

I have AT&T and it's pretty great. I love being able to watch things when I'm not home (when we could do things) as well as DVR stuff very easily. I haven't had many problems at all with them.

Also, get an OTA antenna and connect them to all of your TV's. They're great as well.

That is a bit of a eyebrow raiser.

You can do that as well with Hulu. I will admit that the app interface needs major improvement (they really messed things up with their last update). It really get annoying that when yo exit a channel to return the channel list, it takes you right back to top of the channel listing instead of being on the channel you just exited. Also, the channel list take a bit to completely appear.

If YTTV still had YES, I would have never left them.

Not only the interface but the ADS. Why would you pay for ads???

I don't have that issue (then again, I have the no ads option).

That's why I don't bother with cable TV subscriptions. None of those channels are commercial-free. Rather than pay $50 for a cable TV service with commercials, I can pay a fraction of that by subscribing to Netflix with no commercial...

You're not understanding: before you get to the channel you want to watch, you have to sit through two commercials.

I haven't had cable in a decade. I just watch movies though, use an antenna for Bears football games and sometimes watch the LAFF channel.

I didn't even know hulu had a live tv with ads option. Live tv with no ads is $6.00 more $60.99 monthly, instead of $54.99 for live tv with ads. That's insane lol.
