A little more on pricing from The Hollywood Reporter:

Quote:
Star Wars movies will be on the higher side, or $9.99 to purchase. They'll be on sale from April 28 and end on May 4, timed to the fanboy holiday Star Wars Day. Older movies in the franchise cost around $14.99 to purchase, while the most recent installment, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, can be bought for around $19.95.

The Disney titles that are part of the "Princess Collection" (May 19-25) will likewise cost around $9.99 to buy. The include the classic animated pics Aladdin, The Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Documentaries from Disneynature will cost $7.99 to purchase, on average. They'll be on sale April 21-27, tied to Earth Day.

Otherwise, most of the movies featured during the promotion will start at $4.99. A number of the titles are from the 20th Century Fox library that Disney acquired following its acquiring 21st Century Fox, but aren't yet on Disney+, as are many of the other films that are part of the new on-demand promotion.

I almost hate to say it, but as usual they screw over people who bought the titles years ago randomly by having a 'Princess' sale, but not the other animated classics. Let alone before everything came with a digital code, I would've bought Hunchback or The Rescuers (which have NEVER gone on sale in ten years) than Pocahontas, when I thought everything was equal.

And I don't for a second think they'll charge only 4.99 for UHD Star Wars, but again, unfair when rules were different for Fox titles/no MA back in the day. I would've bought on iTunes and not Vudu to get 4K rights.

Sorry, I know you are ranting, but no one is getting screwed over because they are having a sale. If you bought them years ago, you paid what the going rate was at the time and you’ve had the benefit of owning them all these years.

Well, fair enough. I will say the forum's ability to add 'likes' exacerbates most frustrations as people often pile on. I'll try to look on the bright side and be glad to get Tangled finally.

I’ll probably pick up Enemy of the State and a few others. Wish they were all $4.99, but that was too good to be true.

I'd be curious in some pre-2000 live action Disney and Touchstone titles, if available, since they aren't md2d and never seem to be available for a decent price.

I'm hoping I can nab Real Steel for $5.

I'll just wait on Rise of Skywalker to hit Disney+, which I have through 2022.

Probably a mix of both.

Disney+ subs have probably hit their peak base now, and now they're trying to make some money off the rest of their library, many which are not on D+ like Armageddon, Tombstone, etc.

I am pretty sure it is because of Covid-19 and the stay at home orders that they are having the sale. The aggressive pricing, if it really happens, will be due to Disney+ and in general the move towards the subscription model of streaming.

Disney parks are closed for the foreseeable future, this is covid related to continue to get cash flow

Oh well, 9.99 on the older star wars... no sale...

I was scanning the list for Color of Money too. That's one movie that desperately needs a blu-ray remaster but I would go for a nice HD digital version if it was available...

I'm glad I got that 3 year Disney+ deal for $150 as most of the non-Fox films are included. Does anyone know if Fight Club is UHD?

Enemy of the State is my favorite kind of movie. It is full of bad people who deserve to be killed, and then at the end they are.

Love Man on Fire. Already have it on digital, but for those who don’t have it, it’s an awesome pick up.

I'm on the opposite side of the fence-- I'm glad I didn't bite on that 3 year deal.

After Mandalorian ended there was nothing left for me to watch

I know there answer is 'Hulu' and they don't want to mix in Adult fare with kid offerings, but they need to somehow infuse their Touchstone & Hollywood Pictures stuff in somehow to make it a bit more well-rounded.

The Rock, Con-Air & such could help bring in more adult demos.

Wow, thanks for this! I already had most of the first batch, including a couple I recently paid $7.99 and even $9.99 for, lowest they had been, darn. But wow, lots to look forward to, made me feel better!
