Default Vizio Blu-ray player

Hi. The Vizio Blu-ray player is set to hit stores in April 2009. It apparently will be set at $199 or below.
Has anybody seen exactly when and where these will be available?

Haven't heard. Be forewarned: this forum is not friendly to Vizio.

That's ok ... this forum isn't friendly to Samsung either, but my 1400 has played perfectly for over a year. I am looking for this Vizio for a friend who doesn't have a big budget.

Perhaps not fond of Samsung, but no one has given me a hard time (yet) about my TV, which is a pretty good one. I love my television. I will admit, though, I did read a lot of horror stories about Samsung players. That's why I went with Sony.

FWIW: they have several Blu-ray players out there right now that retail for under $200. Not sure if your friend is hell-bent on getting a Vizio brand, but if he's not, you might look around a bit more for your friend.

I will look around more, but he likes his Vizio TV.
I have heard the Samsung player stories, I guess I am just lucky. I love mine.

To be totally fair to Samsung players, the only bad things I've heard are things from the internet. My cousin owns a television and home theater sales shop, and he preaches on the Samsung players. I guess with every product, there will be bad reviews.

Isn't that crazy how some people can love an item and others just hate it? It makes me wonder if different players are made in different places that have different standards.

Samsung players have had massive and repeated compatibility issues. Every time there's a potentical bump in the road, Samsung's players have faceplanted on them

There's nothing wrong with their TVs

I just don't believe that. Click on at my "collection". Sixty-seven blu-ray discs and my 1400 has played everyone of them flawlessly.

Shortly, it's gonna be a Toshiba blu-ray player discussion and how it may compare to other brands

I love my Vizio TV so much my next TV will also be a Vizio. Will be keeping an eye out for these myself, $200 is a nice price for a blu-ray player.

Back to the original question, does anyone know on what day and where these will be available for $200 or less. I would like to pick one up and try it, because as of right now I only have a 1.1 player.

Yea, we got off topic, but hey - most of us are at work and bored - so it's ok.

I guess my original question is still a mystery.

I think that was mostly my fault for the off-topicness. Sorry about that...although I did say in my first post in here that there are others available for under $200, which kind of seemed like the true goal of the OP: to find an inexpensive player. But that's just my deduction. I do see that the question was directed toward Vizio and Vizio only...so my bad!

My best bet it will starting at Costco first then, to other retailers.....Funny thing is when the 37" 1080p came out, the Vizio website didn't even have any information on it but Costco had it for sale....

The other players for $200 are usually a bonus view, or 1.1 player, whatever you want to call it. My player, the magnavox, which is a pretty sweet value, is one of these. But the big deal with the vizio for $200 is that is a profile 2.0. It might be worth it, maybe not.

How have you liked your Magnavox?
